For the best webcam for Mac, the Logitech StreamCam will quickly become your best friend. What’s 1080p without great color accuracy? Sharp, but bland. On Face-Time, quickly take advantage of its auto exposure and superfast auto focus, so quickly adjusting your position will make the webcam react in a moment’s notice.

Type, Lens, Size & Weight

With a 78-degree field of view, the Logitech StreamCam is a tad bit too close up. One of the best Logitech webcams, the Logitech Brio, takes in more with a 90-degree FOV. Strangely enough, it has full HD vertical video capabilities, but largely useless. Measuring 5.5 x 5.5 x 3.5 inches and weighing 10.2 ounces, the Logitech StreamCam is not lightweight and rather beefy, but still portable. It’s nearly identical in size to the Razer Kiyo Webcam.

Resolution & Display

Logitech didn’t think it was enough to feature 1080p, they had to ensure the Logitech StreamCam ran at 60 frames per second. That eliminates most, if not all choppiness that you’d experience with the Logitech HD Webcam C270. Auto-focus is very snappy, never taking more than a moment to catch up. More importantly, auto-exposure is on point, quickly adjusting light correction when any new light is introduced to the picture and maintaining excellent image quality.

Tripod & Image Stability

Despite using a clip-on design, there is tech built into the Logitech StreamCam to adjust the image automatically if you happen to shake your desk. However, you’ll still greatly benefit from a tripod, considering it supports versatile mounting options.

Optical Zoom, Microphone, Audio & Storage

While digital zoom can be done via Logitech capture software, the Logitech StreamCam has a nifty feature of tracking your face when you move. This does have some comedic value, but is limited to Logitech’s own streaming software. It lacks internal storage, but includes a built-in microphone. Sound quality is clear, crisp, and quite full.

Value

The Logitech StreamCam is in a weird place. Despite its name, it makes a few questionable choices that streamers wouldn’t really care for. On the other hand, it’s fantastic for personal use or conference calls. Unfortunately, USB Type C isn’t an option for everyone, so you’ll have to purchase an adapter. You’re better off using the Logitech C922X.

Logitech StreamCam Wrap Up

The Logitech StreamCam is fantastic in just about every regard: excellent color accuracy, fast focusing, and superfast auto-exposure response. On top of that: 1080p resolution and 60fps. But it has a few bricks tied to its legs. It’s a bit overpriced, needs USB Type C, and limited to a 78-degree field of view. If you can look past that, you’re getting one fine webcam to grace your screen.
