If you want the best webcam for chromebook or the best webcam for mac, then look no further. The Anivia 1080p HD Webcam W8 captures quality videos during live calls, and even goes further by improving lighting, color, and exposure.

Why We Like It – Anivia 1080p HD Webcam W8

The Anivia 1080p HD Webcam W8 is a great option for those who prefer a hands-off approach. It requires very little from you to enjoy its 1080p resolution, other than plugging into your Chromebook.

Pros
  • 1080p w/ really good contrast
  • Automatically adjusts lighting, color, & exposure
  • Omni-directional microphones
Cons
  • Mics are better w/ soundproofing

Type, Lens, Size & Weight

Its 1 millimeter focal length pairs well with its 75-degree angle, though not as wide as you may think, but good enough. More importantly, higher quality imagery is captured with the help of a glass lens as opposed to plastic. Compared to the Logitech HD Laptop Webcam C615, the Anivia 1080p HD Webcam W8 is smaller at just 5.9-oz and 3.86 x 3.07 x 2.44 inches.

Resolution & Display

At beautiful 1080p, the Anivia is better than “good quality,” though not as good as 4K on the Logitech Brio 4K. More importantly, it doesn’t downgrade to 720p during live calls or streaming, which the more expensive Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 does. At the same time it’s auto-correcting light, boosting color and adjusting exposure with surprisingly good contrast.

Tripod & Image Stability

The Anivia 1080p HD Webcam W8 could use some help from a tripod. Its clip-on design loosens over time; otherwise image stability is okay in the moment.

Optical Zoom, Microphone, Audio & Storage

Optical and manual zoom are missing from the Anivia 1080p HD Webcam W8, as well as the lack of internal storage. To make up for it, the Anivia 1080p has omni-directional mics—one mic on each side. However, without soundproofing, the mics pick up a fair amount of static.

Value

Is the Anivia 1080p Webcam W8 USB Desktop Laptop Camera Mini Plug and Play Video Calling Computer Camera Built-in Mic Flexible Rotatable Clip Webcam worth it? For a fledgling YouTuber or streamer, this is an excellent choice. It’s one of the few webcams that records and livestreams in 1080p, without downgrading to 720p, and at just $27!

Anivia 1080p HD Webcam W8 Wrap Up

To close this webcam review: the Anivia 1080p HD Webcam W8 is a great webcam to have for its pricing, despite subpar mics. A bit of proofing will fix that up. What you’re left with is a webcam that can livestream 1080p for just $27, and automatically adjusts for a great hands-off experience.
