Type, Lens, Size & Weight

The lens has a 1 millimeter max focal length, which falls right in line with its 110-degree wide angle view. You can fit four people into the short, comfortably, in addition to a rotatable clip. It’s lighter than the Logitech C615 at just 5.10-oz and 3.80 x 3.10 x 2.50 inches.

Resolution & Display

It may not be 4K, like the Logitech Brio 4K outputs in, but the Avater HD Webcam is no slouch. It records and live streamings in 1080p. Given its low price, that’s pretty impressive. There’s even HDR and low-light auto-correction going on behind the scenes, further improving the image.

Tripod & Image Stability

Sadly, its clip-on design can be a travesty on image stability. Over time the webcam will move, but attaching to a tripod will instantly solve its shortcoming.

Optical Zoom, Microphone, Audio & Storage

Another hit to its features is the lack of optical zoom and internal storage. Furthermore, its single microphone doesn’t offer the best quality, not when compared to the omni-directional capabilities of the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920.

Value

Considering what Avater HD Microphone PC Laptop Desktop USB Webcams offer, it absolutely has great value. It can be a pain locating webcams that livestream in 1080p. Sure, 720p is usually fine in most cases, but 1080p is just so much better and clears up many of 720p’s shortcomings.

Avater HD Webcam Wrap Up

Despite a subpar microphone, the Avater HD Webcam is by far one of the quickest routes to live stream in 1080p. You can always opt for a better mic, and probably will. And if you’ve video calling with several friends, its wide 110-degree angle will be sure to catch everyone. More importantly, you get all of this for $30.
