When you just need a good webcam with decent image quality, the Logitech C270 Webcam saves the day as the best wireless webcam. Sure, it doesn’t have the best of the best specifications—not everyone needs that. Video chatting in 720p is still a favorable compromise. After all, who can argue with a price like that?

Why We Like It – Logitech C270 Webcam

The quickest route for anyone to enjoy video calls in HD video quality, the Logitech C270 Webcam has a very budget-friendly price with good performance, compatibility and internal storage.

Pros
  • 3MP camera
  • 200MB of storage
  • Quickest route for video calling
Cons
  • Maxes out at 720p
  • Does not have a tripod-ready base

Type, Lens, Size & Weight

Rather than use glass, the Logitech HD Webcam C270 uses a plastic one. Picture quality takes a hit when plastic is chosen over plastic, but an untrained eye won’t see the difference. More importantly, the lens automatically focuses. The C270 is notably larger than its Logitech camera brother, the Logitech C930E. Its dimensions are 9.85 x 4.94 x 6.45 inches, which is notably larger than another Logitech camera, the Logitech C930E, which is 3.7 x 3.7 x 0.95 inches and weighs 5.6-oz; the C270 weighs 6.7-oz.

Resolution & Display

At 720p, the resolution isn’t bad, but far from the best. Even the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 has to downgrade its 1080p resolution to 720p when video calling. Thankfully, it has a 3MP photo resolution and auto light correction to at least enhance the quality. If visual quality is crucial to why you need a webcam, like if you’re planning to use the webcam for conference room purposes, then consider models with higher resolution.

Tripod & Image Stability

If you were hoping to fasten this to a tripod, you’re out of luck. It doesn’t have a tripod-ready base. That’s a hit to image stability because its clip-on design doesn’t always offer the best, though face tracking is a feature.

Optical Zoom, Microphone, Audio & Storage

Another hit to its performance is the lack of optical zoom. You know what does? The Logitech C930E, up to 4x digital zoom! Unlike the Logitech C615 HD Webcam, the Logitech C270 Webcam does have an internal storage—200MB, to be specific. Like many Logitech webcams, it also has a decent built-in mic with noise cancellation. We suggest using a dedicated mic though.

Value

Is the Logitech C270 Webcam worth its price? Definitely. Dropping $28 on this little number is right in line with its performance and features. In fact, because of that it’s one of the quickest ways to start video calling, especially if you don’t need the best of the best.

Logitech C270 Webcam Wrap Up

The Logitech C270 Webcam is a decent little webcam that provides a fast way to video calling, especially now when money is tight and video calling is crucial. Sure, 1080p would’ve been better, but more expensive; 720p is still optimal. You even get some internal storage to accompany its 3MB photo resolution.
