Type, Lens, Size & Weight

The Ausdom AW615 Webcam supports a 4.8mm microspur with manual focus. You cannot auto-focus, unfortunately, but you’ll quickly adjust. Measuring 2.60 x 5.31 x 1.38 inches and weighing 4.34 oz, it’s both lightweight and easy to travel with.

Resolution & Display

Image quality is neither great, nor bad. On one hand pixel density definitely matches 1080p; on the other hand its clarity looks more like 720p. It’s best utilized in good lighting, however. Without it you’re left to deal with hideous grain. The Logitech HD Webcam C270 is limited to 720p, but has much better light correction.

Tripod & Image Stability

Moving away from clips, the Ausdom 1080p HD Webcam Camera went with a rigid tail that can adjust according to your needs. It’s versatile, for sure, but when angled to rest on your laptop or monitor, it doesn’t hold on whatsoever. Any unstable surface will quickly topple the webcam.

Optical Zoom, Microphone, Audio & Storage

Digital zoom is available and can be adjusted according to your needs, but no internal storage to speak of. There’s also a built-in microphone that does well enough until you can pick up an external option. It at least has noise-cancelling properties to suppress most background noise. The Logitech C922X gains the upper hand with better audio quality.

Value

n the surface, picking up this Ausdom 1080p Desktop Computer Web Cam almost seems like a no-brainer. It’s 1080p, built-in mic, works with Mac and Windows, and more affordable than the Logitech Brio. Is it worth it? If you’re willing to take a chance. A few users reported compatibility problems; the webcam would work, then stop after some time has passed, only for it to work after jumping through technical hoops.

Ausdom 1080p HD Webcam Camera Wrap Up

If you take the time to baby the Ausdom 1080p HD Webcam Camera when it acts up, you’re saving yourself a fair amount of income. Nabbing a high definition webcam for a decent price is like waiting for the stars to align; it happens once in a while—especially one that’s compatible with both Windows and Mac. And don’t forget good lighting.
