Whether you’re recording videos or going live, the Microsoft LifeCam Studio does its best to enhance the experience as much as it possibly can. Is it the best webcam for conference room though? That remains to be seen, but it’s TrueColor technology and glass element lens makes a good argument.

Type, Lens, Size & Weight
For sharper image quality, Microsoft fitted the LifeCam Q2F-00013 with a high precision glass element lens, correcting any distortion that may have occurred otherwise. As far as size is concerned, it’s pretty small; it weighs 4.48 oz and has dimensions of 4.48 x 2.36 x 1.77 inches. However, its awkward, rigid shape may make it difficult to fit in your pocket, not so with the Logitech C922X Pro.
Resolution & Display
Unfortunately, the Microsoft LifeCam Studio limits itself to 720p during calls, but 1080p for recording—but there’s a silver lining. For starters, its glass element lens improves the overall image quality. At the same time, Microsoft’s TrueColor technology, which is image processing technology that provides better coloring and brightness. In other words: you’re getting an enhanced version of 720p. Or you could have 4K with the Logitech Brio.
Tripod & Image Stability
The Microsoft LifeCam Studio Q2F-00013 has an anchor for holding onto laptops and monitors. It just isn’t very good; it’s too rigid and unbending. Thankfully, it does support tripods.
Optical Zoom, Microphone, Audio & Storage
Sadly, zooming isn’t available unless the software you’re using has it; there’s no on-board buttons to press. It also lacks internal storage, which is fairly normal. It’s microphone, on the other hand, is high-fidelity. It’s supposed to be, anyways. Too much echo is picked up, so having soundproof panels is necessary. Or, better yet, pick up a Logitech C925E Webcam.
Value
While we applaud the Microsoft LifeCam Studio for making the most of 720p during live video calls, it ultimately isn’t enough to justify the price. In fact, most of it is outperformed by the Logitech C925E Webcam. It has arguably better image quality and a much better microphone. It’s $10 more, but $10 worth spending.

Microsoft LifeCam Studio Wrap Up
The Microsoft LifeCam Studio made a valiant effort, but it isn’t quite enough to battle against its competition. To be frank, there’s options out there just as good and for better prices. However, Microsoft’s TrueColor technology does provide an exquisite image; colors look great, as does lighting. If you can pair it with an excellent microphone, we wouldn’t bat an eye.
