The Lexmark B2236DW Printer can not only print text at a fast and accurate rate, but can do the same with graphics and photos as well. Just keep in mind that this is a monochrome printer, so everything will be in black and white. Despite this, we still consider it one of the best printers, mainly due to its fantastic output quality.

Speed

Lexmark B2236DW Monochrome Laser Printers are rated at 36ppm, the same as the Brother HL-L2730DW and the Brother MFC-L2750DW. But where the Lexmark B2236DW really shines is churning out color and graphics pages. Here, the Lexmark B2236DW produces an astounding 16.7ppm, the most we’ve seen from a laser printer to date.

Print Quality

Lexmark B2236DW Monochrome Output Laser Printers produce excellent looking text, well-shaped and legible, down to the smallest font sizes. The HP LaserJet Pro M15w is capable of the same. Grayscale graphics looked good as well with no noticeable banding. Photos also look presentable, much the way they do with the Canon imageClass MF424dw, and can be used for any business application without much worry.

Efficiency

If you participate in Lexmark’s toner cartridge return program, and use their high yield cartridge, your cost per page should be around 2.7 cents. You’ll have to replace the imaging drum every 12,000 pages though, and when you do the running cost will increase to 3.4 cents a page. Advanced Features

Connectivity features are straightforward. You get standard Wi Fi, Ethernet, and USB. For mobile connectivity and mobile printing you get Apple AirPrint, Mopria, and Lexmark’s Mobile Print App which allows you to connect your phone to your printer via LAN. For security, you can set up connectivity restrictions as well as assign PINs to sensitive documents. While straightforward, these security features are actually quite robust for an entry-level printer.

Value

The Lexmark B2236DW supports duplex printing which is always something we welcome considering not many printers support it. And when you combine it with the 250-sheet plain paper tray, it all of a sudden seems like you hav 500 sheets of paper at your disposal. The control panel is a little sparse, consisting of only a navigation wheel and a small monochrome display, but you can configure everything you need to with the built-in web server.

Lexmark B2236DW Wrap Up

It’s a shame laser printers still have such high running costs. With inkjet slowly being able to produce text at laser printer levels companies will need to find a way to adapt. Still, when it comes to the Lexmark B2236DW, running costs can still remain low if you aren’t printing too much and only use it for light office or home office applications.
