Expert Rating

90

The Canon Pixma iP110 is a wireless mobile printer aimed at the budget market. It’s focused on being a jack of all trades, master of none; it excels in very few areas (and is consistently mediocre in most aspects), but it’s not bad at anything major, and its low price makes it a solid all-around pick. For its price range, it’s arguably the best portable printer and the best office printer, but spending more will get you better printers.

Why We Like It – Canon Pixma iP110

The Canon Pixma iP110 is a lightweight, portable inkjet printer with Wi-Fi support, with solid print quality and great portability. If you’re looking for a portable printer, the Canon Pixma is a great choice if portability matters more than print quality.

Pros
  • Cheap
  • Portable
  • Good balance of price to quality
Cons
  • Mediocre print quality
  • Poor page yield

Speed

Print speed is a mixed bag on the Canon Pixma iP110. It’s not as fast as a large office printer like the Brother MFC-L3770CDW Laser, Brother MFCL275DW, or HP OfficeJet Pro 9025, but it’s much cheaper, and its print speed is great for its size class. It prints around 2 pages a minute, which is impressive for its price class; it prints slightly faster than the Epson WorkForce WF-110, but it falls well short of the much pricier HP OfficeJet 200 Mobile Printer’s 9 pages a minute. In short, for its price and size class it’s fine, but spending more yields you much better results.

Print Quality

Photo quality is the very definition of average on the Canon Pixma iP110. It won’t turn any heads, and it has noticeable faults, but it’s fine for internal office use, and the images it prints only look noticeably mediocre under scrutiny. For an ink cartridge-based printer, graphic-based prints are above average while printed text is well below average in appearance.

Efficiency

The Canon Pixma iP110’s single most disappointing aspect is its poor print efficiency. It chews through ink cartridges, rated for a measly 191 pages when using black ink; this figure falls off further with color ink, and it absolutely plummets when printing full-color pages.

Advanced Features

With Wi-Fi printing and specific support for both Android and iOS through Google Cloud Print and AirPrint, respectively, the Canon Pixma iP110 is standard as far as portable printers go. Canon further offers a Canon Print app, making it incredibly easy to print to the printer from any internet connected phone or computer in the household.

Value

Value is where the Canon Pixma iP110 shines. At $249.99 (a number that often gets discounted at that), it provides a near-perfect ratio of price to quality. Spending more will get you much better printers, yes, but spending less also gets you much worse printers; the Fujifilm Instax Mini Link Smartphone Printer – Dusty Pink, for example, is nearly half the price but vastly inferior in every possible metric.

Canon Pixma iP110 Wrap-up

The Canon Pixma iP110 is a solid budget printer that stands out due to its solid quality all around. It’s not the best printer in any single aspect; it’s not very efficient, it doesn’t print the fastest, and its print quality isn’t the best, but none of those aspects are deal-breaking bad. That’s what makes the Canon Pixma iP110 shine: it’s a jack of all trades that’s priced just well enough that its lack of a standout feature or crippling flaw works in its favor, making it a good budget pick for virtually any buyer.
