The Canon PIXMA TS8220 might not be the best wireless printer out there. But its simple operation procedure should make it attractive to most casual users. It performs very well if you exclusively print on photo paper. That makes it the best printer for students for their projects and artworks. If aside from photo paper, you print on cardstock, consider investing in the best printer for cardstock instead.

Why We Like It – Canon PIXMA TS8220

The Canon PIXMA TS8220 wireless inkjet printer does have some massive quirks, but overall, it’s pretty good. Especially it’s a perfect choice if you’re mainly doing photo printing. Also, it’s great for a small scale home office where you don’t need as much performance.

Speed

Well, this Canon printer can only print one page/image at a time. So there’s not much to go by as far as print speed is considered. What we’re trying to say is, this printer is very slow, and if you’re after the best print speeds, you should avoid it altogether. Get the Brother HL-L2350DW laser instead in that case.

Print Quality

This is where this Canon printer excels, the print quality section. The max print resolution you can select is up to 4800 x 1200 DPI. Now, that might not sound like much on paper, especially compared to the Epson WorkForce WF-7210 Wireless Printer. But Canon’s color accuracy is still unmatched.

Efficiency

It’s a simple inkjet color printer, and it’s reasonably efficient for what it is, both in terms of power and ink usage. And it has Canon’s six colors individual ink tank system. So, in case your black ink tank runs out, you can just refill only the black ink tank. Still, it can’t beat the Brother MFC-L3770CDW Wireless Laser Printer in terms of ink efficiency.

Advanced Features

It has two paper trays, to begin with, one for taking photo paper, and the other for taking plain paper. Also, it has support for Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Mopria Print Service & Bluetooth for printing wirelessly from mobile devices. On top of that, it has a memory card slot.

Value

The value proposition of the Canon PIXMA TS8220 is just fine, nothing extraordinary. It’s not some cheap $100 printer, and not being able to print more than one page at once is a massive bummer at this price. But, other than that, you’re not really losing out much at all.

Canon PIXMA TS8220 Wrap Up

Looking at everything above, we can conclude that the Canon PIXMA TS8220 is a tad bit overpriced right now. Maybe the price will decrease in the future. But if you can live with the print speed, it’s not a bad option by any means.
