The Canon Pixma TR7520 is a lower mid-range printer aimed at the budget market. The printer features a surprisingly long list of extras, ranging from Wi-Fi support (which isn’t a given even in 2021) to document scanning. It’s a standard Canon printer, with decent quality and a great price; it’s a strong contender for the best inkjet printer and the best printer for small business on a budget.

Speed

The Canon Pixma TR7520 is blisteringly fast in single-sided mode, churning out around 40 pages per minute on simpler text-focused prints. This places it well ahead of the Epson WorkForce ET-4750, which costs four times as much yet sits at a sluggish 15 pages per minute, and about on par withthe Brother MFCL2750DW which achieves 36 pages per minute. In short: its print speed is very fast for its price, and it’s competitive even with pricier printers.

Print Quality

Despite its low price point, print quality is very solid on the Canon Pixma TR7520. Photo printing quality is adequate, with generally fine colors; it soundly beats out the Canon Pixma MG3620, which oversaturates colors and overall appears inaccurate when printing colors. Quality is worse overall than the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015’s, which is about as good as ink-based printers get; considering the price difference, that’s more than impressive for Canon’s offering. It’s great for printing documents and photos alike, particularly for its price. Image quality also beats out the Canon imageCLASS MF445DW overall, with similar text quality but much better image print quality.

Efficiency

Efficiency is another big win for Canon here. Running costs on the Canon PIXMA TR7520 are very low, which is especially great to see considering its entry-level MSRP. It’s cheap to buy upfront and it’s cheap to maintain; cartridges last a while and they’re cheap to replace, there’s not much else to say.

Advanced Features

There’s not much to ask for on the Canon PIXMA TR7520. Wi-Fi support makes it easy to update the printer driver, it supports wireless device printing through Google Cloud Print and Apple AirPrint, and it unsurprisingly works fine with both Windows and OS X computers. Using Canon’s app is also an option, making it featureful and easy to use. The only feature it’s really missing is an ethernet jack, but ethernet’s high bandwidth isn’t exactly a necessity for a printer.

Value

Value is the golden crown atop the Canon PIXMA TR7520’s head. Its upfront cost is impressively low, and its print quality is solid enough that the printer could cost nearly twice as much and still be a quality product. Couple this with the fact a replacement compatible Canon ink cartridge is dirt cheap and its overall efficiency is great, and it’s easy to see why Canon has produced a veritable value king.

Canon PIXMA TR7520 Wrap Up

The Canon PIXMA TR7520 is a high quality budget product that’s very easy to recommend to buyers on a low budget. Its price to quality ratio is very high, and unlike many other budget printers it still somehow manages to have low maintenance costs, meaning it’s inexpensive today and will remain inexpensive throughout its lifetime. If you’re on a budget, this is most likely the printer you’re going to want to get.
