Speed

The Canon Pixma TR4520 Wireless Printer is rated for a print speed of 8.8ppm for monochrome pages and 5ppm for color pages which averages to about 6.9ppm. Admittedly, it’s not the fastest printer in the world, but it should still suffice for some light home office use. But if you do need something faster because you won’t be using a printer much at home, consider the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015.

Print Quality

The Canon Pixma TR4520 Printer Driver is yet another example of how a home Canon printer is tough to beat when it comes to imaging. Business graphics look terrific, photos come out stunning and vibrant (especially on glossy photo paper), and text documents are easily readable down to the smallest font point. But this is a printer especially designed for photo printing, so it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. You can also check out the HP Designjet T120 for another great example.

Efficiency

The Canon Pixma TR4520 Inkjet Printer does have some higher than average print costs. Factoring in the price of a black ink cartridge and other color ink cartridges, the results are about 8.7 cents per page for monochrome pages and 18.7 cents for color pages. What’s worse, there’s no compatible Canon alternative to HP’s Instant Ink program to get discounts on ink types. If you’re looking to save on ink toner, consider the Brother Inkjet Printer MFC-J985DW.

Advanced Features

The software bundle includes scan utility for both Windows and Mac OS X operating systems as well as the ability for wireless printing and the manipulation of images via your Apple or Android device with the Canon Print App. One feature it does lack, though, is wi-fi direct if your wireless network does go down. However, it does support auto-duplexing. And not just on plain paper, but on photo paper plus glossy paper too. You don’t see this on printers very often.

Value

The Canon Pixma TR4520 allows you to print, scan, and do all the other fun things you think a modern printer should do. It sports a 100 sheet paper tray and an automatic document feeder that can support 20 sheets of letter-size paper. Canon has also begun to include smart home capabilities with their printers, and so the Canon Pixma TR4520 is also compatible with Amazon Alexa.

Canon PIXMA TR4520 Wrap Up

Judging by the smaller paper tray and very high running costs, the Canon Pixma TR4520 is meant to be a low-volume printer. But that doesn’t mean it doesn;t have its perks. Duplexing is supported, which saves you extra money on paper, and if you don’t mind the slow speeds because you don’t print too much anyway it can make an excellent home office printer too.
