If you need the best printer for cardstock papers, you should go for a wireless wide format printer. The Epson WorkForce WF-7720 comes in at a great price, counting all its features. And it is the best printer for cardstock papers at this price.

Why We Like It – Epson WorkForce WF-7720

The Epson WorkForce WF-7720 is pretty good for doing office work at home. It may not be a proper high volume printer, but it does have a high capacity for pretty much everything, including the ink cartridges, which is not common at this price.

Pros
  • High capacity for paper sheets, automatic document feeder
  • Great borderless print quality
  • Intuitive controls through the Epson Connect app
Cons
  • Guzzles a huge amount of ink for borderless prints

Speed

Epson’s inkjet printing technology powered by their “Precision Core” really does excel in this front. The speed of the Epson WorkForce WF 7720 is around 10 PPM color printouts and 18 PPM black (for monochrome printouts). Basically, at max, it takes about 6 seconds per page. But, if you need even more print speed, the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 is a much better choice.

Print Quality

Just like most Epson printers with a high capacity ink cartridge, the print quality is pretty good. And because it’s a wireless wide format printer, you can print out borderless prints up to 13″ X 19″ in size. But in a color print, the black ink quality is not that great.

Efficiency

The Epson WorkForce WF 7720 is very efficient in terms of power usage. In fact, this one printer sips as much as 80 percent less power compared to a color laser printer in its class. However, it’s not great in terms of ink usage. You can print around 20 pages per ink cartridge, so it will make you buy remanufactured ink cartridges from the get-go if you’re going to print even a somewhat moderate amount of content. Even the Canon Pixma iX6820 has better ink efficiency, a printer that costs less than half its MSRP right now.

Advanced Features

This is a place where this printer knocks it out of the park. It has a scanner that can scan copy and send it over to any device. The Epson WorkForce WF 7720 also has support for most of the modern and older iteration of Windows and macOS. And on top of that, it features both Wi Fi direct (Epson’s term for specifying WiFi support) and ethernet for controlling the printer using the Epson Connect app.

Value

With its relatively low pricing, Epson America has an incredible value for money printer in their hands. It’s modern (released back in 2017) and has a lot of features, so it does deserve its price tag. But if you are still not convinced and can make do with a few sacrifices, you can also get the HP OfficeJet 3830 that has dropped in price quite a bit over the last five years.

Epson WorkForce WF-7720 Wrap Up

After looking at other printers, you might think that the Epson WorkForce WF-7720 is overpriced. But it really is not if you need all the features it provides. If you mostly use photo paper for printing purposes, it is going to be a perfect fit for you.
