The Formlabs Form 3 is a high-quality SLA Printer that utilizes a laser to transform liquid resin into solid form. It’s a sophisticated machine that can produce the highest-quality prints without any undue strain which makes it great for people who want to do a lot of printing without problems.

Performance
With the Form 3, Formlabs is introducing their new Low Force Stereolithography (LFS) technology. The innovation here is the flexible plastic on the bottom layer allowing the machine to use less force in pulling the hardened layers up. Unfortunately there is no camera inside the Form 3 to check on the prints so you won’t know if a print has failed until the printing process is complete or you check it while it’s printing. Design
The Formlabs Form 3 carries an impressive build volume of 145mmX145mmX185mm. The Form 3’s laser and optics are found under the resin tank in a sealed package called the Light Processing Unit which protects it from dust and can be completely replaced by the user. The Form 3 also fills the resin cartridge by itself which is a plus because standard resin is nasty, stinky stuff. The Form three is a versatile open/closed printer, but you can try the LulzBot Mini 3D printer if you want a specifically open frame.
Value
The post processing methods of the Form 3 are user-friendly with Formlabs shipping its form wash and the entire post-processing kit with the purchase of the complete package of Form 3. It’s expensive, though. So if you’re on the market for SLA Printers you may be turned off by the $3,500 – $5,000 price range (depending on what package you get). If you’re looking for something a little more affordable, consider looking at the XYZprinting Nobel 3D Printer.
