The Epson WorkForce ET-4750 is a premium printer aimed at businesses. It’s focused on cost over time rather than value; it’s expensive to purchase upfront, but it has cheap ink bottles with high page yields. Its low maintenance costs and great print quality make it a strong contender for both the best inkjet printer and best printer for small business.

Why We Like It – Epson WorkForce ET-4750

The Epson WorkForce ET-4750 is a high end multifunction printer with great print quality, low cost replacement bottles, and a slew of features businesses will appreciate such as an automatic document feeder for scanning, and enough inbuilt ink to prevent the need to purchase additional ink cartridge sets for a while.

Pros
  • Low cost of maintenance
  • Great print quality
  • High efficiency
Cons
  • Low throughput due to its low print speed
  • Speed

To call the Epson WorkForce ET-4750 slow would still be a gross overestimation of its capabilities. Its own official rated speed is anemic, at a mere 15 pages per minute; real world use printing off a one-sided, text-heavy page pegs it more or less exactly in-line with Epson’s own figures. Even other slow printers like the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 and HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 will outpace it, coming in at roughly 22 pages per minute. It doesn’t even begin to hold a candle to genuinely fast printers like the Canon imageCLASS MF445DW or Brother MFCL2750DW.

Print Quality

Print quality is excellent on the Epson WorkForce ET-4750. Its color reproduction is on-point unlike the oversaturated Canon Pixma MG3620 and dull Brother MFC-J995DW, and text quality is expectedly crisp even at smaller font sizes. While its output is slow, its low maintenance costs and excellent output quality almost makes up for it. Though it’s intended for plain paper, image quality is solid enough to justify using photo paper when necessary.

Efficiency

Efficiency is another big win for Epson here. While the printer has a fairly high upfront cost, maintenance costs are very low thanks to its inexpensive ink cartridges with high yields. The Epson ecotank printer design works well here, making the Epson WorkForce ET-4750 an efficiency workhorse.

Advanced Features

Advanced features on the Epson WorkForce ET-4750 are standard fare for this price point. Wi-Fi is built into it unlike some other printers, and it supports NFC. Though Wi-Fi Direct requires additional printer software, Wi-Fi Direct is indeed supported, making it work seamlessly with both computers and mobile phones.

Value

Despite its high upfront cost, the Epson WorkForce ET-4750 is an excellent value proposition thanks to its very low running costs. Its inbuilt ink tank lasts a very long time, and replacement ink is very affordable for how long it lasts. It’s worth spending extra to get over cheaper options, as it works out cheaper than much of its competition in the long run.

Epson WorkForce ET-4750 Wrap Up

If speed doesn’t matter, the Epson WorkForce ET-4750 is more or less the printer to get if you can afford it. It might be slow, but in exchange it has great print quality and incredible efficiency that more than offsets its high cost. Printers are just as much an investment over time as they are an upfront investment, and Epson more than delivers on the long-term investment front. If you have the money and long-term costs matter at all, you’re going to want the Epson WorkForce ET-4750.
