The Epson WorkForce ES-60W Wireless Portable Sheet features wireless scanning on a budget, bringing quality that’s nothing short of impressive to the table for an affordable price. Despite its low price point it delivers phenomenal scan quality at a fast rate, sacrificing very little in the process; its only real fault is the fact it has to manually be fed pages one by one. Its mix of speed and quality makes it pair super well with our best portable printer picks. In fact, it also performs better than some of the best printers that have the ability to scan.

Why We Like It – Epson Workforce ES-60W Wireless Portable Sheet

The Epson WorkForce ES-60W Wireless Portable Sheet is a wireless portable document scanner with high scanning speeds and a very attractive price point. While many companies would cheap out at such a low price point, Epson delivers a quality product that impresses in a number of different ways.

Pros
  • High scan quality
  • Fast scanning speed
  • Portable
Cons
  • No automatic document feeder

Scan Speed

So long as you can stand ready to feed it pages, you’ll be able to rapidly scan documents on the Epson ES-60W. Provided you can feed it documents at around the rate it scans them in, it pulls off around 11 pages per minute for one-sided pages; as far as portable document scanners go, that’s not a bad figure at all. This high scanning speed makes it pair well with a fast-ish portable printer like the HP OfficeJet 200 Mobile Printer or Canon Pixma iP110.

Scan Quality

Scan quality on the Epson ES-60W is unsurprisingly excellent. Epson sacrificed convenience for quality; pages have to be manually fed, but the trade off is worth it when you consider what the scanner is capable of. It preserves detail even on small fonts, producing scans that are more than adequate for portable printers like the Epson WorkForce WF-110 that will preserve its details. If you can get past the inconvenience of manual scanning, you won’t be disappointed with the speed or quality of the Epson ES-60W.

Efficiency

Epson rates the Epson ES-60W for around 300 scans on a single charge, which should be more than enough battery life for its purposes. Considering it has to be fed manually, it would be an exercise in patience to kill its battery in a single scanning session regardless; I can’t help but feel a tinge of pity for the businessman on the road feeding documents one by one into the scanner, praying to higher powers that they won’t arrive before he’s finished putting every paper in or that the scanner won’t die before they’ve arrived.

Advanced Features

There’s not much in the way of advanced features on the Epson ES-60W, which is understandable considering its low price point and singular point of functionality. You’re looking at a miniUSB port for charging and data transfers, WiFi connectivity for wireless connections, and nothing else; it’s a device that connects and scans.

Value

Value is the Epson ES-60W’s bread and butter. Epson cheaped out in the right ways to provide a product that’s good where it’s most important; lack of automatic scanning is unfortunate, but the speed and quality at which it scans is very impressive both for its price point and just overall. It’s an incredible value that pairs very well with a portable office setup on a low budget.

Epson Workforce ES-60W Wireless Portable Sheet Wrap-up

If you can live with its inconveniences, the Epson WorkForce ES-60W is a very, very compelling product. It’s incredibly one-note in what it can do and what it supports, and it’s a bit inconvenient to use it for what it’s meant to do, but it’s extremely good at doing what it’s designed to do–produce high quality scans quickly. It’s well worth the purchase if you’re aware of its shortcomings, and it’s certainly a blessing for that poor businessman praying for a last-minute miracle on the road.
