This is also a smart TV with plenty of features to enhance streaming and gaming, including Roku access and integration with Amazon Alexa.

The integrated stand is not that adjustable, allowing for only some minor height adjustment, though it is VESA-mountable. This is also quite a powerful television, thanks to the quad-core processor, with built-in access to a wide range of Android apps and games. The ultra-thin 1mm design is aesthetically pleasing and the lack of noticeable bezels along the side can help with immersion while gaming.

Though this is a worthy contender for a living room centerpiece, the 40-inch display size may make it better suited for a bedroom or gaming room. Additionally, this TV monitor for gaming features a 1080p resolution, which may not please consumers who are looking for 4K or above. This Haiway display comes in at a convenient and compact form factor, offering plenty of portability and the ability to take your gaming or TV watching on-the-go. This portability extends to vehicular use, as it ships with a number of accessories, including a kit to connect the monitor inside of your car. There are usable ports on the rear, HDMI and VGA, and the 178-degree viewing angle is decent, allowing multiple people to watch or play at once.

This is not a 4K monitor, displaying a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Also, due to this monitor’s small 10-inch width, it would not be entirely suitable as your main display for gaming or TV watching.

How We Decided

To help narrow down to the above list of TV reviews, we focused primarily on high-definition televisions that could also double as a primary gaming setup. To that end, we liked vibrant resolutions, often in 4K, and displays that integrated nicely with Nvidia G-Sync and AMD Radeon FreeSync graphics cards. As a gaming device, we liked high refresh rates and speedy response times, and plenty of options for customization.

Of course, these are televisions in addition to being gaming monitors, so we liked TVs with integrated smart features, allowing for instantaneous streaming from well-known apps right out-of-the-box. We also enjoyed monitors that offered full integration with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, or another smart assistant, for the purposes of issuing voice commands.

Ports were also a prime consideration. We generally chose monitors with plenty of usable ports, including HDMI, DisplayPort, USB, and more. Newer monitors were given bonus points if they contained HDMI 2.1 port or allowed for a USB-C connection. We also liked displays with some sort of built-in cable management system and those that could hang on walls, via VESA mounts.

Best TV Monitor for Gaming Buyer’s Guide

The Most Important Features to Consider

  1. Gaming Specs
If you are to be using a high def TV as your gaming rig, we recommend taking a look at the advanced specs. Look for high refresh rates of around 120Hz or more and quick response times of 1ms or 2ms. If you are looking to connect the TV to a PC, rather than a gaming console, make sure the display can play nice with the tech included in modern graphics cards, including Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync. Additionally, if you really want your games and streaming shows to pop, look for a monitor with a 4K resolution.
  2. Smart Features and Alexa
If you are looking to simplify your time in front of the television set, make sure the monitor you are looking to purchase is filled with smart features and integrates nicely with voice assistants, such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. These aforementioned smart features can you give you instantaneous access to a suite of streaming apps, games, video chat platforms and more.
  3. Ports
Obviously, ports are extremely important when deciding the best TV monitor for gaming. Make sure the display you are looking at buying is filled with a multitude of usable ports. HDMI is a must-have if you are looking to connect to a modern video game console, such as the Xbox One or PlayStation 4. If you are connecting to a gaming PC, look for HDMI 2.1 or USB-C. Additionally, ethernet ports are important, for wired Internet access, and so are headphone jacks and audio in/outs.
