In a time of expensive 4K monitors, the Iiyama G-Master GB2888UHSU comes equipped with a gigantic viewable area, an adjustable black tuner, and stunning pictures that will save your wallet plenty of cash compared to other best 4K monitors on the market. It’s price, along with its features, make the G-MASTER GB2888UHSU more than worthy of a spot in our list for Best Monitor for Graphic Design and perhaps best computer monitors.

Why We Like It – Iiyama G-MASTER GB2888UHSU

When it comes to smooth gaming, the Iiyama G Master GB2888UHSU, otherwise known as the Gold Phoenix, is a solid choice for those in the market for a gaming monitor.

Pros
  • Beautiful 4K resolution
  • Lightning fast 1ms response time
  • Impressive viewing angles
Cons
  • No VESA support
  • Size feels a bit too small for gaming

Performance

The GB2888UHSU brings a lot of the performance that typical 4K monitors bring that’s the standard all around. Featuring a 1ms response time, this is the perfect gaming monitor for those whose games depend on who’s reaction time is fastest, like fighting games and first person shooters. Additionally, the GB2888UHSU comes equipped with a black tuner, allowing you to fine tune your settings to get the perfect individual blacks and whites for yourself. With a picture on par to the Acer CB282K, this is a monitor that’s well worth a look at.

Viewing Angle

When it comes to stands, the Iiyama G Master GB2888UHSU comes equipped with the standard range of adjustability: height, swivel and tilt. It can even be used as a vertical monitor, so those working in graphic design can feel free to use the GB2888UHSU in whatever way they want. One feature that is lacking from this monitor however is that there is no VESA support. Sadly for those who want to mount their monitor, they’ll simply have to make do, or go for the LG 27UD68-W, which features VESA compatibility.

Durability

With the lack of VESA support, the monitor that comes with the Iiyama G Master GB2888UHSU has to feel solid, and fortunately, it excels at it. With some monitors that offer adjustability, it usually does this at the expense of the stability of the monitor. In the GB2888UHSU’s case it’s able to balance both durability and adjustability, while having to sacrifice little to nothing at all.

And you won’t be sacrificing much at all, especially when you look at monitors with extra features such as the ones you’ll find in our write-up of the LG 27EA83 D 27-inch ColorPrime IPS LED WQHD monitor.

Ports/Expandability

The Iiyama G Master GB2888UHSU features one DisplayPort, 3 HDMI ports, and two USB ports, All around this is a fairly well port selection. Usually most displays either decide between having a diverse input port selection or compromising it to offer USB ports. With the GB2888UHSU, it offers the best of both.

Value

While indeed the G-Master GB2888UHSU offers 4K performance for a fraction of the price, there are some compromises G Master made in order to bring the price down. One instance for example is that the monitor is a TN panel instead of the standard IPS. Meaning that it’s easier for colors to be blurred. If this is a dealbreaker, the Acer B246WL is an IPS panel that will fail to disappoint

Iiyama G Master GB2888UHSU Wrap Up

Trying to be the best of both worlds, the Iiyama G Master GB2888UHSU succeeds in some areas, while struggling in others. While offering a 4K gaming experience with a 1ms response time is a feat in itself, G Master goes beyond and makes it at an affordable price range. This doesn’t come without its faults, however. The screen feels a tad bit too small, and the TN panel makes you sit front and center to get the best vision. Though if you are looking for a budget 4K monitor, this one might be for you.
