What could possibly be the best photo editing monitor, or even the best video editing monitor, the BenQ EX3501R is an ultra-wide gaming monitor that has a balance for improved visuals and gaming performance. With its specifications, it could even possibly be one of the best computer monitors for watching movies, or best HDR monitor.

Why We Like It – BenQ EX3501R

The BenQ EX3501R has an aspect ratio of 21:9 that allows the user to use the split-screen option on its 35-inch screen. There isn’t too much focus on just one attribute, as it’s a well-rounded monitor that provides great display quality and a performance boost from housing FreeSync technology.

Pros
  • HDR support
  • Low power consumption
  • Above average refresh rate
Cons
  • Can’t swivel

Performance

The EX3501R has a slightly shorter response time, higher resolution, supports HDR, and has a significantly higher refresh rate compared to the BenQ GW2270H. The EX3501R also has AMD Freesync adaptive sync technology to give the monitor a performance boost that prevents potential screen tearing and broken frames while the GW2270H doesn’t. However, there are a couple of similarities between these monitors. Both BenQ monitors contain VA panels to provide great color contrast, and both screens are flicker-free.

Viewing Angle

Since the monitor is curved and big enough to block light when it’s facing away from the source, it’s easier to find decent viewing angles and can keep the user’s focus on the screen. It has a light sensor that detects the overall ambient light of the room, making the screen brighter if there’s more light, and making the screen darker when there’s less light. The visuals are stunning with the 2,500:1 contrast ratio, especially when hdr mode is activated.

Durability

The stand has a minimalistic design in a way that maintains stability without hindering any of its physical abilities such as height adjustment and tilting. Unlike the BenQ SW2700PT, it doesn’t have the ability to swivel. The monitor itself weighs 21.3 Lbs., weighing more than the BenQ SW2700PT, which weighs 18.30 Lbs. Since the screen is bigger and curved, more precaution would have to be considered when handling the monitor in comparison, especially since it doesn’t have a shaded hood to use as a shield.

Ports/Expandability

This wide range of assorted ports consists of a DisplayPort, HDMI, USB 3.0 ports, USB C port, and a headphone jack. The DisplayPort is the best way to utilize the picture quality of the screen, the USB C port can be used to charge other devices, and the HDMI and USB 3.0 ports are two of the most common features of modern-day computers to suit a user’s technological needs with ease.

Value

This monitor is much cheaper than the Asus Designo Curve MX38VC monitor despite the size difference being only 2.5 inches. The BenQ has a VA panel while the Asus has an IPS panel, which is usually much more expensive due to the high color quality and viewing angles that it can provide. The Asus also has features that the BenQ doesn’t have, such as high quality built-in speakers, a built-in wireless charger that lights up, and Bluetooth music streaming.

BenQ EX3501R Wrap Up

Customer reviews have been mostly positive, with some reviews praising its gaming performance, hdr feature, and how the contrast can make details in dark scenes of movies easier to see. However, there’s a chance that the monitor could develop a blur or dark spot on the edges of the screen.
