Cons
  • High price point may drive away buyers
  • Stand is unstable

Performance

If one were to use the Dell UltraSharp UP3216Q to watch a movie, even for five minutes, it would be impossible for them to switch back to a full HD monitor. The UP3216Q goes above and beyond simple HD, pushing past all the way to a 4K resolution. With the included color calibration feature, setup is easy, and you’ll be ready to work in a short amount of time out of the box. Featuring a color coverage of over a billion colors, this kind of performance is only matched by the Acer CB282K

Viewing Angle

No matter the display type you prefer, plane switching is a breeze thanks to the Dell UltraSharp UP3216Q’s versatile stand. Able to have a viewing angle of 178 degrees no matter how you place it, rest assured that you’ll always have the best picture. Being able to adjust the stand via height, rotation and tilt however way you want is a standard, especially for a monitor of this price

Durability

This is where the Dell UltraSharp UP3216Q takes a bit of a hit. For an investment of $1500 many are well within their right to feel assured that their monitor will be durable and last a while. Unfortunately, this isn’t exactly the case with Dell’s monitor. Right from the start the stand feels slightly unstable, wobbling from the desk that’s too uncomfortable for such an expensive monitor. There is the option of a lock slot, which not only deters theft but is insurance against falls. Fortunately, there is another option: the UP3216Q features VESA support There’s not much more secure than a wall mount, so for those who want a secure anchor point, either invest in a VESA mount, or go for the more secure Acer B246WL.

Ports/Expandability

There’s no need for a HDMI MHL converter for this monitor, as the Dell UltraSharp UP3216Q comes equipped with a mini DisplayPort, DisplayPort, HDMI, 5 USB ports, one of them capable of charging, and even a media card reader. There’s a wide range of versatility with this monitor, more than able to handle any connection you may need.

Value

Now’s the time to address the elephant in the room: the price point. At $1500, this is the type of monitor that professionals in the field required. With a price more expensive than some computers, it’s safe to say that it might scare away buyers. Nevertheless, the tech that the Dell UltraSharp UP3216Q is packing is industry standard, and with Dell’s Advanced Exchange Service, getting a replacement is a breeze.

Dell UltraSharp UP3216Q Wrap Up

For the IPS-type LED monitor, there is no other alternative than the Dell UltraSharp UP3216Q. For the admittedly high asking price, you’re getting a top-of-the-line monitor that rivals even real-life visuals. Its wobbly base is a mere annoyance, the UP3216Q is the best of the best, and if you’re the type of person who only uses the best, then consider Dell’s monitor and push it to the limit.
