Performance (Display/Resolution/Refresh)

This Sony TV produces detailed, vibrant pictures on its 4K 43″ Triluminos display (the Sony X720E also has a Triluminos display). It shows deep, rich colors with real-world details thanks to a combination of Dolby Vision and HDR running off of the X1 4K HDR Processor. MOTIONFLOW XR limits blur, even though the refresh rate is fairly low at 60hz (if you want a higher refresh rate, check out the Samsung NU6900 55). The display doesn’t have an extended viewing angle, but it does a dedicated picture mode specifically for gaming.

Sound

This TV has good built-in speakers that can get fairly loud, topping out at 93db. You get a quality digital audio experience thanks to the inclusion of Dolby Atmos technology (another smart TV with Dolby Atmos technology is the LG SM9000). The TV has a 3.5mm audio jack in addition to a digital optical audio output – it can even support 5.1 speaker channels via ARC! While it does have built-in Bluetooth technology, it doesn’t support Bluetooth headphones by default so you will have to do some tweaking to get this to work.

Smart Features

This smart TV runs on an Android operating system that allows you to stream videos easily in various applications such as YouTube or Hulu. The Google Assistant also lets you check the weather, controlling the TV, or watch your home security feed (all by voice control!), to name just a few functions. Similar actions can also be performed with Amazon Alexa, which also works with voice control. The TV also works with Apple Airplay 2 and Homekit Support, so you’ll have no problem integrating it into your existing smart home setup.

Ports & Expandability

The Sony XBR43X800H has 4 HDMI ports (one of which is ARC), an ethernet port (the TV can also connect to Wi Fi), and two USB inputs. It also has a headphone jack and an optical output for easy audio connections. The TV can be set up two different ways: with stand (the stand legs are approx. 21.5 inches apart and 11.4 inches deep), or without stand (on a VESA wall mount). Since the Sony XBR43X800H can be controlled with voice control or by remote control, it should be able to easily fit into your current setup.

Value

The price point is one of the Sony XBR43X800H’s weak points. It’s not an extremely expensive device (it costs less than $450), but many other smart 4K TVs can be purchased for over $100 less. At $450, you can even find a few 55″ smart TVs, so this is definitely a drawback of this device. The TV does have free shipping and returns, a warranty (although no specific terms are mentioned), and the option between a 3 and 4-year protection plan. Scoring 4.5 out of 5-stars on Amazon, it appears most customers are happy with their purchase despite the price.

Sony XBR43X800H Wrap Up

If you’re looking for a high-quality 4K smart TV that works with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple Airplay, look no further than the Sony XBR43X800H! Although the price may be a deterrent to some. you can’t deny the features at least somewhat justify the price, making this TV an excellent addition to any smart home.
