This Sony XBR smart tv in the X900f series is a “best TV for gaming” top pick! Outperforming even the best 1080p TV in terms of picture quality, it uses X-Motion Clarity technology to maintain a clean & smooth image on this tv. Sony opted for a TRULUMINOS display combined with Dolby Vision to provide the most vivid colors possible. So how does it stack up aganist other top-rated TVs? Read this post to discover more!

Why We Like It – Sony XBR49X900F

The Sony XBR49X900F is one of the best TV monitors you can buy for under $900. These LCD TVs have a 49-inch 4K display, an Android operating system, are compatible with Amazon Alexa, and provide up to six times more contrast than other LCD TVs thanks to X-Tended Dynamic Range Pro 6x. If the LED display of this Sony TV isn’t cutting it for you, check out the LG CX OLED, which has an OLED screen for perfect black with superior contrast making it one of the best tv for bright room setups.

Performance (Display/Resolution/Refresh)

This TV has a 4K HDR 49-inch LCD display. The TRULUMINOS display combines X-Tended Dynamic Range Pro, X-Motion Clarity, IMAX Enhanced, & Dolby Vision technology for a high-quality, vibrant, & dynamic visual performance with many different picture settings (if image quality is extremely important to you, you can also check out the Samsung Q80T QLED, which uses AI to upscale an image to 4K). The 4K HDR display has a refresh rate of 120hz, thanks to X-Motion Clarity, so it’s perfect for gaming, especially with the Playstation 4 & 4 Pro.

Sound

This TV has decent sound quality, though this will get worse as the TV Sony X900F approaches its maximum volume of 90db. Fortunately, all of the TV sizes (55, 65, 75, & 85 inches) except for the 49-inch model have the option to purchase an additional soundbar so you can get a better audio experience than you would from the speakers on the monitor. There is both a 2.1 channel and a 3.1 channel soundbar available for purchase.

Smart Features

This smart TV runs Android using the X1 Extreme processor (for an upgrade to the X1 Ultimate, which is the best processor offered on Sony TVs, check out the Sony X950H!). Sony TVs with Android have Google integration which gives you access to the Google Play store and allows you to do tasks such as play a movie or check the weather using Google Assistant. This TV also supports voice control with Amazon Alexa, which allows you to control other Amazon Alexa enabled devices in your home.

Ports & Expandability

The Sony XBR49X900F has four HDMI ports, two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, and a composite port. This wide variety of ports mean this TV has great expandability and can easily be used with other devices such as monitors, gaming systems, computers, and other devices. For audio, the TV has both an ARC output & a headphone output, so you have options there as well. As previously mentioned, there are also two soundbars available as add-ons that you can get when you order this TV.

Value

The pricing for this product is confusing. There is a $100 price difference from the 49-inch model to the 65-inch model, but the price goes up by $900 when you get to the 75-inch model. Also, the pricing on Amazon for this product changes a lot, so you will want to watch it & wait for a low price. The 49-inch model offers both free shipping and returns, and also has 3 and four-year protection plans available in addition to the 1-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Sony XBR49X900F Wrap Up

The Sony XBR49X900F is an excellent 4K TV. Offering premium visuals with superior performance perfect for movies, this TV could be just what your home needs! Most users seem happy with it, scoring a 4.6/5-stars based on 1,373 ratings, but Sony’s lack of customer service is concerning. Still, if you want a 4K TV that costs less than $1,000 and can connect to your smart devices, then the Sony XBR49X900F is just what you’ve been looking for!
