Performance/Display/Resolution/Refresh

The Sony XBR X900F is a 4K UHD TV that supports multiple popular high dynamic range formats like HDR10, Dolby Vision, and Hybrid Log-Gamma; it also supports IMAX Enhanced content for amazing movies. Its X1 Extreme Processor helps control contrast and allows for a wider range of brightness, making it a perfect option for bright living rooms. And the full array local dimming technology enhances contrast and colors for truly lifelike image quality. It smooths motion with X Motion Clarity technology, and Sony TVs work well with PlayStation with a 120hz refresh rate and little input lag for fantastic HDR gaming. While this is a LED LCD TV, if you’re looking for OLED TV technology, compare the Sony to the LG OLED55B8PUA TV review.

Sound

With Dolby Digital Audio and DTS Surround Sound, the Sony X900F sounds much better than most other flat screen TVs. It also comes with sports and music modes so you can hear your favorite content perfectly. The sound levels are fairly loud, but many Amazon reviewers still purchased an external soundbar for overall better sound quality.

Smart Features

The Sony X900F Series are all Android TVs with Google Assistant built right in. You can use your remote control to ask it to play your favorite TV shows, check your team’s score, ask about the weather, and even control other smart devices around the house. Chromecast is also built-in, so you can play your favorite movies right from your smartphone. It’s definitely the perfect addition to any smart home.

Ports/Expandability

If you love gadgets, you’ll love this Sony TV. The 55-inch X900F has great connectivity and video input: 4 HDMI ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB 3.0 port, and a composite port. It also has built-in wifi and an ethernet port for easy internet setup.

Value

At $900, the Sony X900F is mid-range in terms of price, but it’s such a great TV, you definitely get what you pay for. The Android TV and smart features are excellent for the price, and you don’t necessarily have to shell out for an external stereo system. You don’t need to buy a Google Home or Chromecast. It even uses less energy than other TVs like it, so you’ll definitely save on your electricity bill. Sony also offers a 1-year limited warranty for repairs. But if you’re still looking for a cheaper unit, try the Samsung UN50RU7100FXZA.

Sony XBR55X900F Wrap Up

Bottom line: the Sony X900F is fantastic for gamers, cinephiles, and anyone with a bright living room. It has deep black levels and a wide color gamut for beautiful, realistic picture quality. And the Android TV with Google Assistant built-in is definitely a fantastic feature. While the Sony X900F is a great ultra HD TV, if you’re more looking for QLED technology, check out the Samsung Q80T QLED TV.
