Why We Like It – Insignia 55 Inch TV

The Insignia 55 Inch TV has a great picture quality with easy-to-use smart features and Amazon Alexa voice controls built right in. We love the flexible connectivity, with 3 HDMI ports and a USB port, to plug in all your gadgets. The Fire TV smart features are definitely a great addition, meaning you’ll find your favorite shows, fast.

Pros
  • Affordable
  • Remote control with built-in Amazon Alexa
  • Decent sound quality
Cons
  • Many Amazon reviewers received defective products

Performance/Display/Resolution/Refresh

The Insignia Fire TV Edition has a 4K UHD resolution and gorgeous picture quality. It’s compatible with HDR content, so you can watch your favorite TV shows with full high dynamic range. It has a 60hz refresh rate for great sports games without motion blur, and video gaming with little input lag. It also has a fairly wide viewing angle, so you can enjoy watching from any seat in the living room. Compare its features to a similarly sized model, the Samsung 55 Inch 4K TV.

Sound

This Insignia TV has built-in speakers with Dolby Digital Audio and DTS Surround Sound. Amazon reviewers were surprised by the sound quality, saying it’s fairly good for a flat screen TV. But you still might opt for an external sound bar for more bass or louder audio levels.

Smart Features

This Insignia is the Fire TV Model and comes with a voice remote control with Amazon Alexa built-in. Because it doesn’t require a separate connection for streaming services, the smart features are easy to set up and use. And it has a quad-core CPU for faster processing and search results, meaning you’re only a few minutes away from enjoying your favorite shows.

Ports/Expandability

This Insignia has 3 HDMI ports and 1 USB port for connecting your DVD or Blu Ray player, cable box, video game consoles, flash drive, and more all at the same time. It also has built-in wifi for fast search results and easy, automatic updates. And you can even connect an HD antenna for a gorgeous live picture.

Value

You can’t beat Insignia’s $430 price tag, especially for 4K resolution and smart features in a 55-inch TV. The built-in speakers and Amazon Alexa are definitely a good savings, and Insignia offers a 1-year warranty. And it’s cheaper than the Sony X950G.

Insignia 55 Inch TV Wrap Up

For a 4K smart TV, the Insignia 55 Inch TV is a great deal. The 4K Ultra HD picture quality is crisp and clear, and the sound quality for a flatscreen is actually pretty good. The best part of the TV is the built in Fire TV technology, which makes searching for your favorite shows very easy-to-use. If you’re looking for more bells and whistles, take a look at the LG C9 OLED TV, but if you just need a basic (but beautiful) LED TV, then the Insignia 55 Inch is definitely for you.
