One of the best TV for seniors options, the Samsung 8000 Series is a 55-inch model with a great picture quality. Samsung TVs are high quality TVs, with easy-to-use smart features and a handy Universal Guide. This is one of the best TVs you can get for your entertainment.

Why We Like It – Samsung 8000 Series

The Samsung 8000 Series has a great image quality and easy-to-use voice control features. We love its clean cable solution for hiding cords in the back, as well as the included voice remote. It’s a great TV for watching high dynamic range HDR content.

Pros
  • Dedicated gaming mode
  • Easy-to-use smart TV features and automatic updates
  • Thin frame
Cons
  • Only 2 HDMI ports
  • Poor sound quality
  • TV stand and legs hard to assemble

Performance/Display/Resolution/Refresh

Unlike other LED TVs, this Samsung is a 4K UHD TV with a crystal processor for peak brightness. It’s compatible with high dynamic range (HDR) content, as well as Dolby Vision, so you can watch your favorite shows and movies in crisp, lifelike quality. Its 120 motion rate is perfect for smooth sports games, and it even has a dedicated game mode for very low input lag, speedy response time, and automatic picture optimization. One downside is that it does not have a local dimming setting, and the viewing angle is fairly basic. But while it’s not a QLED TV, or an Organic LED like the LG C9 OLED TV, the Samsung NU8000 series is still a gorgeous addition to any home theater. Sound

This Samsung TV has built-in speakers; however, many Amazon users review Samsung’s speakers as being fairly weak. You can purchase an external sound bar with Bluetooth to get a much better audio range and better sound quality.

Smart Features

This Samsung smart TV is a great smart hub for the rest of your home. Unlike other Smart TVs, it has Bixby and Amazon Alexa voice control, so you can change the channel by just speaking to its Samsung One Remote Control. It also includes Samsung TV Plus for watching live shows. Its smart features are powered by Tizen, combining all your favorite streaming services (like Hulu, Apple TV, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video) into one convenient Universal Guide. You can compare its smart features to the Sony X950G. Are you craving to explore the gaming-changing clarity of 4K with an immersive curve? Read our Samsung curved TV 55 inch 4K review.

Ports/Expandability

This Samsung 55-inch TV has 2 HDMI ports (which is low compared to other similar sized TVs on the market) and a USB port to connect your cable box, DVD player, or gaming consoles. And it has built-in wifi and an ethernet port for easy internet connection and automatic software downloads. If you don’t like Samsung’s Universal Guide, you can always plug in a Fire TV stick or Roku to access your preferred smart features.

Value

At $478, this Samsung is a couple hundred more pricey than other 4K smart TVs on the market. But its value comes in the easy-to-use smart features (like the convenient Universal Guide) and the voice control remote. The built-in Amazon Alexa and speakers are a savings, and there is an eco power option to decrease power consumption.

Samsung 8000 Series Wrap Up

The Samsung 8000 Series has a very good picture quality, especially for viewing HDR content. If you’re looking for smooth sports and video games, then you’ll want Samsung’s superior overall image quality. And with the Universal Guide and One Remote Control, it’s a great addition to any smart home. Compare its features to our other smart TV reviews, like the Samsung 55 Inch 4K TV.
