The LG 22LJ4540 TV has definitely earned its spot as #2 on our best 1080p TV buyer’s guide. It’s small, but has great features like a Triple XD Engine for deeper contrast and a picture more true to real life. It’s also incredibly affordable, one of the best TVs for dorm rooms, studio apartments, or for an extra TV on the kitchen counter.

Performance (Display/Resolution/Refresh)

The LG 22LJ4540 TV is a full HD TV with a 60hz refresh rate for a crisp picture. It features full HD IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology that enhances the performance of liquid crystal displays; this means picture quality is perfect no matter what angle you view the TV. It also has a Triple XD Engine that deepens colors and enhances contrast for gorgeous picture quality. Lastly, the LED backlighting makes blacks even richer, for full image clarity.

Sound

Amazon reviews say this LG TV has decent sound quality for a smaller unit, but it requires you to adjust a lot of settings. The biggest downside is that there isn’t an audio output jack, so if you don’t like the sound from the TV, then you can’t add an external speaker.

Smart Features

This unit is not a smart TV and does not have built-in wifi, nor an ethernet port. If you aren’t tech-savvy and don’t want to fiddle with smart TV setup, then the LG 22LJ4540 TV is the perfect set for you.

Ports & Expandability

The LG 22LJ4540 TV only has 1 HDMI input port, which is fairly limiting, but not very surprising for such a small unit. It’s not a smart TV, either, so it’s a fairly basic unit. If you’re looking for a larger TV with more expandability, you might want to check out the Sony X900E.

Value

At $130, the LG 22LJ4540 TV is an incredible value for a small 1080p TV. It has gorgeous picture quality with surprising amounts of contrast for a small unit, so you definitely get more than you pay for. And LED TVs in general have less power consumption than other types of TVs, which is an overall savings. And it’s cheaper than our #1 1080p TV buyer’s guide pick, the Samsung Electronics UN32N5300AFXZA 32″ 1080p Smart LED TV.

LG 22LJ4540 TV Wrap Up

The LG 22LJ4540 TV has one of the best prices for a 1080p TV on the market. It’s perfect for small spaces and dorm rooms, and for anyone that doesn’t need smart TV capabilities. It’s flexible for any room, as it can be set up with or without the stand. But if you’re looking for more than a basic unit, then you might want to look at something like the Samsung Q80T QLED smart TV.
