With incredible ThinQ AI technology, the LG OLED55B8PUA has Google Assistant conveniently built right in. You’ll be more connected than ever with the LG Magic Remote that allows you to change the channel and even control other smart devices in your home. Experience the best picture quality with Ultra HD. It’s time for you to learn more about one of the best Tvs on the market.

Why We Like It – LG OLED55B8PUA 43

The Sony XBR55X900F is an Android TV with Google Assistant built right in. The Dolby Digital Audio is fantastic for a flatscreen TV, and there are loads of connectivity options with multiple HDMI and USB ports. And the 55-inch Sony flat screen TV is fairly easy to wall mount, and looks great with pretty much any decor.

Pros
  • Cinema quality picture and sound
  • Google Assistant built-in
  • Lots of input ports
Cons
  • Hard to wall mount
  • Amazon reviewers say banding and factory defects are common
  • OLED TVs sometimes have issues with burn-in

Performance/Display/Resolution/Refresh

Advertised as the “Best TV Ever,” the B8 from LG Electronics is an OLED panel TV with the exclusive A7 Intelligent Processor. Combined with the ThinQ AI, the processor enhances 4K HDR content to bring you beautiful pictures you’ve only seen at the movie theatre (and is way better than typical LED LCD TVs). LG builds its OLED with self-illuminating pixels that bring perfect black levels and gorgeous color contrast. The B8 supports all the major high dynamic range formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG. And Amazon reviewers say the viewing angle is perfect: you can watch TV from any seat in the living room. Compare the B8’s picture to the Samsung UN50RU7100FXZA.

Sound

The LG B8 has Dolby Atmos digital sound, bringing you fantastic sound quality that seems to move; you could hear a lion roaring almost behind you or a plane flying overhead. Dolby Atmos makes for an immersive audio experience that’s completely unmatched. Most Amazon reviews say the audio quality is great for a flat screen TV, but many purchased an external soundbar for optimal sound levels.

Smart Features

The LG OLED TV has ThinQ AI technology with Google Assistant builtin; this means you can control your TV and other compatible devices with just your voice and the LG Magic Remote Control. Play your favorite TV shows from Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and many more just by asking your TV! The B8 is also compatible with Amazon Alexa devices. Your TV will be the smart hub for your entire house. Amazon reviewers say the on-screen instructions to set up the smart features are very intuitive and easy to follow.

Ports/Expandability

This LG TV has incredible connectivity, with 4 HDMI ports and 3 USB ports, meaning you can plug in your DVD player, gaming consoles, wireless keyboard, and cable box all at the same time. It also has an ethernet port and wifi built-in for easy internet setup. It’s even Bluetooth compatible.

Value

The LG B8 OLED TV is definitely a higher-end model. At $1,650, it’s one of the more expensive TVs on our list, but you definitely get what you pay for. The picture is incredible even for bright living rooms, and you won’t get better quality from anything but the movie theatre itself. Keep in mind you don’t need to buy a separate Google Home Assistant or an external stereo system, which is a big savings. If you’re still looking for something cheaper, check out the Samsung Q80T QLED.

LG OLED55B8PUA Wrap Up

Experience cinema-level picture and sound quality with the LG B8 smart OLED TV. With so many picture and brightness settings, it’s perfect for bright living rooms. If you love sports, play video games, or just watch a lot of movies, then you definitely have to give LG TVs another look. Or, compare it to another 55-inch TV, the Sony XBR55X900F.
