It’s important to consider multiple options when searching for the best TV monitor for your kitchen, home office, or security system. The LG 24LM520D-WU 24 Inch HD TV Monitor is a solid option, producing HD pictures on its 720p display with decent sound quality from its two 3W speakers, all for less than $170! These features make it a contender for best electronics.

Why We Like It – LG 24LM520D-WU 24 Inch HD TV Monitor

This 24” class HD TV by LG Electronics is the perfect TV monitor for your kitchen, office, or spare bedroom. Although you won’t be able to integrate it into your smart home, the LG 24LM520D-WU 24 Inch HD TV Monitor still provides a decent bang for your buck, offering a quality viewing experience on its 24” 720p display.

Pros
  • HDMI Input Makes It Easy To Connect Devices
  • 178° Viewing Angle
  • Includes A Remote Control
Cons
  • Lower Resolution Than Other HD TV Monitors
  • Not A Smart TV
  • Lacks Audio Outputs

Performance (Display/Resolution/Refresh)

This TV’s 24″ display provides an HD 720p picture, a refresh rate of 14ms, and a wide viewing angle of 178°. The LG uses the Triple XD Engine to produce a more lifelike image with a better contrast ratio. Its small size makes it perfect for kitchens, spare bedrooms, or for use as a security camera monitor. Of course, if 24 inches isn’t a big enough display for your liking, you might consider the LG SM9000 instead, which has a 4K 55” screen.

Sound

The sound on this device isn’t spectacular, but it’s fairly good considering the size of the TV and the speakers. This TV has two down-firing 3W speakers that can be fine-tuned using the on-board EQ settings. Unfortunately, unless you have a soundbar with passthrough HDMI audio, this is the only listening experience you will be having, as the LG 24LM520D-WU 24 Inch HD TV Monitor lacks any audio outputs whatsoever. It’s not unusual for a TV manufacturer to skip on adding a headphone jack, but the lack of even an optical port is something to consider.

Smart Features

This is not a smart TV, so don’t expect anything fancy from this device. It’s created solely for the purpose of viewing HDMI or cable content, nothing else. However, it does have some basic built-in features, such as a sleep timer, Auto Off, Smart Energy Saving, and Motion Eye Care technology. Most of these features will allow you to conserve energy in an effort to lower your electric bill; the last feature, Motion Eye Care, can also help save you money, but its primary purpose is to provide local dimming to reduce eye strain. Ports & Expandability

Unlike the Sony X720E (which has 3 HDMI inputs), the LG 24LM520D-WU 24 Inch HD TV Monitor only has a single HDMI input. If you have more than one device, you will either have to manually switch out the HDMI cords or invest in an HDMI splitter. It doesn’t have any USB ports, so the only other option you have for input is a coaxial cable, which will allow you to watch cable television on this set. Both ports are located directly on the back of the TV, so this may present problems when attempting to wall mount the device.

Value

The price of this TV is high, costing nearly $170 for a 24-inch 720p display. In that price range, you can get a 1080p smart TV instead (if you don’t mind spending a bit more money for a 4K TV, the Samsung NU6900 55 might be a good alternative option to check out)! LG offers free shipping to nearly anywhere in the United States, although returns are not free. There are no warranties or protection plans available for this TV. On the plus side, this unit scores a 4.3 out of 5-stars on Amazon. Take a look at our LG 24Mp59G P 24 Inch Monitor Freesync review for a much affordable TV monitor.

LG 24LM520D-WU 24 Inch HD TV Monitor Wrap Up

The LG 24LM520D-WU 24 Inch HD TV Monitor is a decent TV monitor, but its biggest drawback is that it’s overpriced. While the 24″ HD 720p display may be adequate for some, there are still much better options available for the same price (or even less!). This product is wall mountable though, and scores fairly high on Amazon, so it may still be worth looking into if you need a small monitor for less than $200.
