Our #1 choice for best TV monitor, the Samsung UN55NU6900, is the perfect addition to your smart home! No matter if you want to watch TV shows, play video games, or stream videos online, this is the best TV for the job. This 55-inch TV features a 4K display (which upscales non-4K content to 4K), HDR10+ technology for the most dynamic images, and decent sound quality from the stock speakers. You have to admit that this is one of the best TVs you can get!

Why We Like It – Samsung NU6900 55

The Samsung NU6900 55 is a UHD Smart TV that provides a far superior viewing experience than you can get from other 55-inch TVs. Using HDR10+ technology, this Samsung TV provides dynamic, high-quality images with a motion rate of 120 on its 4K HDR display.

Pros
  • PurColor Provides A Wider Color Gamut Than Previous Models
  • Upscales Picture Quality To 4K
  • Available In Multiple Sizes
Cons
  • Doesn’t Include A Wall Mount
  • Only Has 2 HDMI Ports

Performance (Display/Resolution/Refresh)

The Samsung UN65NU6900 isn’t one of Samsung’s many QLED TVs, but nonetheless, it provides a high-quality 4K picture (3,840 x 2,160) that is ideal for viewing HDR content. It uses HDR10+ to produce millions of different color shades on the 4K display. If you are viewing non-4K content on the TV, Samsung added a powerful UHD engine that can upscale your content to 4K anyway! With a motion rate of 120, the Samsung NU6900 has essentially no input lag, which is important if you plan on using it for gaming. For a 40-inch 1080p TV, open our Samsung M5300 review.

Sound

The 55″ class NU6900 TV doesn’t really excel when it comes to digital audio. The speakers receive mixed reviews, with some people thinking they are adequate, and others recommending you purchase a soundbar. The speakers themselves are two tiny units located on the bottom of the TV that point down towards the floor. Unfortunately, this TV doesn’t have a headphones jack, opting for only a digital audio output. If you want to use a Bluetooth speaker, you’re out of luck, as this model doesn’t have any Bluetooth capabilities.

Smart Features

You can use your Amazon Alexa to turn on this smart TV in place of the remote control (another LED TV that supports Amazon Alexa is the LG SM9000). The included Samsung remote allows you to easily adjust the TV and access various streaming services on the TV (it requires 3 AAA batteries). You can use the usual services like Youtube or Netflix, but this TV also gives you access to the TV Plus channels, which are ad-supported free channels you can watch if you get bored of your normal programming.

Ports & Expandability

This TV has only two HDMI ports (as opposed to the Sony X720E, which has 3 HDMI inputs). This may be a drawback for users who tend to have a lot of different input sources, but worst comes to worst, you can always buy an HDMI switch. They do appear to be input-only though, so this TV isn’t ideal for expandability. Adding to this problem, it has only a digital output, so if you want better sound quality than the stock speakers can provide, you will have to buy a compatible soundbar.

Value

At only $577.97, this is a great purchase for the price (especially considering some of the best TVs, such as the Samsung Q80R, can easily run over $2,000!). It currently has a 4.5 out of 5-star rating on Amazon, based on 1,609 ratings, so most people seem to love this TV! The fact that this TV works with both Bixby and Amazon Alexa AND has a 55″ 4K display for under $600 makes this product worth it to us. Plus, these Samsung TVs have lower power consumption, which saves you money in the long run (opposed to an LCD TV). Samsung NU6900 55 Wrap Up

There’s a reason why the Samsung NU6900 55 is our #1 pick for the best TV monitor! This TV provides excellent viewing quality, an HDR10+ display, and even has smart features as well. It would have been nice to have seen more HDMI inputs on this TV, but two should be adequate for most users.
