If you’re looking for the best 1080p TV, you should definitely take another look at the Samsung M53000. While it doesn’t have as many bells and whistles as other 1080p TVs on the market, it’s great for anyone on a budget or who doesn’t have a lot of space. Let’s find out if this is one of the best TVs with Full HD.

Why We Like It – Samsung M5300

With twice the resolution of normal HD, the Samsung M5300 has a gorgeous picture quality in 1080p. It’s relatively easy to wall mount, and its small size and Smart TV features make it a good choice for anyone in a small apartment. If you want a frame for your bedroom that transforms into a beautiful work of art, read our Samsung frame TV 43 review.

Pros
  • Initial setup and wall mounting is easy
  • Great for people who aren’t tech-savvy
  • Affordable
Cons
  • Does not have HDR
  • Amazon reviews note that picture and sound sometimes drop out

Performance/Display/Resolution/Refresh

The Samsung M5300 full HD TV has a basic screen size of 32”, perfect for a smaller apartment. A full HD TV, the M5300 has a wide color enhancer that works even on older programming to provide a more rich color experience. It has a 60hz refresh rate; this motion rate is fairly good, but not as great as newer HD TVs with 120fps. One downside is that it does not have HDR. Compare the Samsung M5300 to another model: the Samsung Electronics UN32N5300AFXZA 32″ 1080p Smart LED TV. For a 55″ screen, feel free to open our Samsung NU6900 55 review.

Sound

The Samsung M5300 has DTS Premium Sound 5.1 with enhanced sound richness. However, Amazon reviews say the sound quality is alright, but note that the maximum sound from the TV is fairly low, and that a soundbar is needed to enjoy the full range of audio.

Smart Features

You can access all of your apps and streaming services from the Samsung Smart Hub: Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, HBO, Google Play, and more. It also has separate apps for sports and music. Wifi capability is built-in so you can easily access all of your favorite streaming content and have a more connected entertainment experience. Amazon reviews say that the Smart TV functions are easy-to-use, and perfect for people who aren’t so tech-savvy.

Ports/Expandability

The Samsung M5300 only has 2 HDMI ports (compared to the Sony X900E which has 4), but it does have a USB port so you can play pictures and videos saved on an external flash drive. While it does have wifi connectivity built-in, you will need to purchase a separate Chromecast if you want to cast your favorite TV shows directly from your smartphones to your TV.

Value

At $290, the Samsung M5300 is a fairly good deal, but note that it is hard to find new as it’s an older model. If you just need a basic TV with decent picture and sound, then you can’t go wrong with the Samsung M5300. But if you’re looking for something with more features (and more HDMI ports), then you might want to look for something else, like the LG 22LJ4540 TV.

Samsung M5300 Wrap Up

The Samsung M5300 is a good, basic choice for a 1080p TV. Its size is perfect for small apartments, the price is perfect for budgets, and the Smart TV features are perfectly simple for people who aren’t tech-savvy. But if you’re looking for a Smart TV with more features, you might want to check out another TV review.
