As you look for the best grills, you might want to start considering the best indoor grills when it’s too cold to cook outside. To that end, check out the Secura smokeless indoor grill. It may not be great for beginners, but its power and adjustability will make any grill veteran’s mouth water.

Why We Like It – Secura GR-1503XL

The Secura GR-1503XL Indoor Grill is one of the best indoor grills on the market today. With over 450℉ of cooking power and 180 square inches of cooking space, you’ll be able to cook a meal for your family or your friends quickly and to perfection.

Pros
  • High Heat
  • Grill Griddle Combination
  • Thermostat Control
Cons
  • Made from Plastic
  • A Little on the Heavy Side
  • No Instruction Manual

Power/Heating

The Secura Smokeless Indoor Grill has an impressive maximum power output of about 1,700 watts. Translated into temperature, it can go as high as 450℉ which is one of the highest we’ve seen for a grill so far. It will have no problem searing your meat or vegetables to perfection. If you don’t need that much power, we recommend checking out the Zojirushi Indoor Grill.

Size/Versatility

One of the best things about the Secura Smokeless Indoor Grill is that it has a generous 180 soiree inches of cooking space. Like its heating capabilities, it’s one of the highest we’ve seen, even beating out the Hamilton Beach Electric Indoor Searing Grill. It’s also highly versatile in that it can be used both as a grill or griddle. That said, other similar options like this include the Presto 09020 indoor grill and the Philips smokeless indoor grill.

Durability

Perhaps it’s just me, but something constructed from plastic always irks me the wrong way, which is what the Secura is made from. This is unlike the T-Fal OptiGrill electric grill, which is stainless steel. If you’re like me, you can check out the George Foreman 4 for something that’s not plastic. At just shy of 14 pounds it’s also a little on the heavy side, but it shouldn’t be too much of a concern because the grill is pretty solid thanks to this and should last quite a while.

Ease of Use

The non-stick surface of the grill means you won’t have to grease it and can begin grilling as soon as you open it. The grease and drip tray is located under the cooking plates and slides out easily for easy cleaning. One odd thing that’s not included with the Secura is an instruction manual. I know a lot of people just want to get to grilling via trial and error, but some others want to know about all the grill’s capabilities so it’s odd they didn’t include one.

Value

The removable glass lid is a plus that you won’t normally see on electric griddles and the moisture vents on the side, if you do choose not to use the lid, make sure your food doesn’t get soggy. The thermostat control allows you to heat your grill to the desired temperature, and the cool touch handles are there so you don’t burn yourself using the grill. Please use them.

Secura GR-1503XL Wrap Up

The Secura GR-1503XL is large and heavy, but it has a combination grill and a high-end griddler which gives you great versatility in your cooking. This is a fair trade-off. It can replace many things in your kitchen and, for that reason alone, it’s worth getting despite the larger-than-average price tag.
