Why We Like It – Cuisinart Gas Grill

The Cuisinart Gas Grill is an excellent, portable, propane barbecue with more than enough power to cook your meat to perfection and more than enough grilling space to at least cook a few hamburgers at a time. Add to this how light the grill is and you have a real winner. For another like this, check out our review of the Cuisinart grills.

Power/Heating

Cuisinart Burner Gas Grills can reach a maximum BTU of about 5,500 on the stainless steel main burners. If this were a larger grill it would be something to complain about. But given the size of the CGG-1080T, it should be more than enough power. Consider the Blackstone 36 Stainless Steel Griddle if you want a powerful four-burner model type of grill. Our review of the Coyote S Series discusses another high-performance grill with 4 burners.

Size/Versatility

Unlike the Coleman Roadtrip LXE, the cooking space on the Cuisinart CGG-1080T is about 145 square inches. This should be enough to cook about eight burgers and eight chicken breasts at a time. Six if you don’t want to give them some space when cooking. Unfortunately, with a grill this small, you won’t get a warming rack or side burner. Check out the Weber Spirit II if that’s something you want.

Durability

Cuisinart made sure not to skimp on the construction of this grill. Probably because Cuisinart is known for constructing quality, large-scale barbecues. We also appreciate that the grill only weighs about 13 pounds. Even for a portable grill, this is still low on the weight scale and we really appreciate it. It even weighs almost ten pounds less than the Weber Q1200! Read our Dash Mini grill review for an even lighter grill: 1.5 pounds.

Ease of Use

The Cuisinart isn’t that difficult to put together, to be completely handy. If you are even moderately handy and have basic tools, or can borrow them, you should be able to construct this with no problem. The cast-iron cooking grates are coated in porcelain which makes them very easy to clean with a nylon grill brush and the drip tray does a very good job at catching runoff.

Value

You aren’t going to get many additional features with a smoker tube this size, but you will get a twist electric ignition which is something very rarely seen in grills this size and this price. Most have you working with matches or charcoal. Finally, the foldable legs and carrying handle may not seem that big, but it does wonders when you’re transporting the grill.

Cuisinart Gas Grill Wrap Up

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that a grill this small doesn’t come with a warming rack or a side burner, but we know people really like those features. Still, if you like going out camping or to cottages and like bringing your grill to cook your burgers, you can’t really go wrong with the Cuisinart CCG-1080T.
