When you’re stuck inside you’re probably not thinking about the best grills. But maybe you should be, considering there are lists of the best indoor grills. And when you’re checking them out you should keep the Philips smokeless indoor grill in mind thanks to its high cooking temperature and less-than-average smoke production.

Why We Like It – Philips Smokeless Indoor Grill

The Philips Smokeless Indoor Grills is a powerful machine that will take you less than five minutes to set up. Its high grilling temperature ensures perfectly cooked meals and the larger grilling surface means you can feed more people than just yourself.

Pros
  • Infrared Technology Allows for Fast Heat-Up Time
  • Produces Less Smoke than Competitors
  • Dishwasher Safe
Cons
  • Only One Type of Cooking Plate
  • Heavy
  • Very Bright Infrared Lights

Heating/Power

The Philips smokeless indoor grill can heat to a temperature of about 446°F and stay at that temperature consistently because it is an infrared grill and not a gas grill. The only other electric grill that can match this power is the Hamilton Beach electric indoor searing grill so make sure you check it out. The Philips smokeless grill also achieves max temperature in one minute so you can get to cooking faster.

Size/Versatility

The Philips smokeless infrared grill provides a nonstick grill cooking grid of about 112 square inches. This is quite large, and you should be able to cook a decent amount of food for yourself and others. But unlike the Secura GR-1503XL, the Philips smoke less grill isn’t reversible and thus has only one type of cooking plate. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it can be annoying when you’re trying to make different kinds of grilled food.

Durability

The 16 pounds the Philips Smokeless indoor BBQ grill weighs isn’t heavy by any stretch of the imagination, but there are definitely companies that offer grills that weigh far less, like the Presto 09020 indoor grill. The Zojirushi Indoor is among these grills. It’s made from plastic as opposed to stainless steel, which can be a plus considering how annoying stainless steel is to clean, but you can check out the George Foreman 4 if you like stainless steel.

Ease of Use

The fat and grease drip into the drip tray which is easily removable. The drip tray is also dishwasher safe, just make sure you wipe it down with a cloth beforehand. Of course, you can hand wash if you prefer. The grill does produce less smoke and flare-ups than other grills too, which is nice, but it’s always advisable to have some sort of fan because nothing can be completely smoke-free.

Value

The grill, part of the Avance Collection, is a little pricey, but it does its job well which is all you really need to ask for. A note here though. The infrared lights can become very, very bright when on max power. It can easily light up a dark room if the lights are off, so it will probably hurt your eyes the first few times you use it if you’re not used to that level of brightness.

Philips Smokeless Indoor Grill Wrap Up

Anyone who decides to spend the money will be happy with their purchase of the Philips Smokeless Indoor Grill. More importantly, they will be able to feed themselves and/or their families quickly and efficiently. The infrared lights may be too bright, sure, but at least you don’t have to contend with it not cooking your steaks all the way through.
