If you’re shopping for the best grills, but you’re on a very tight budget, it’s probably better to start looking for the best indoor grills. To that end, you should definitely check out the Presto indoor grill. While its max heat may be comparatively low, it’s easy to clean and, even better, very easy to operate.

Why We Like It – Presto 09020 Indoor Grill

The Presto 09020 Indoor Grill is a relatively powerful grill that is perfect for lightweight use and for cooking a single person’s meals. Its grilling surface is large enough to accommodate at least two medium-sized cuts of meat and the master heat control knob allows for even a novice to get grilling easily.

Pros
  • Six Heat Adjustment Levels
  • Lightweight and Portable
  • Master Heat Control Knob for Temperature Control
Cons
  • Max Heat is a Little Low
  • Relatively Small Cooking Surface

Power/Heating

The Presto Cool Touch boasts about 1,300 watts of power which normally translates to about a 400℉ maximum cooking temperature with up to six adjustment levels. The six adjustment levels are a nice touch, but the maximum cooking temperature is a little on the low side even if it can handle anything you throw at it. Check out the Secura GR-1503XL if you want something with a little more power.

Size/Versatility

The Presto Indoor Electric Grill features a grilling surface of 13 x 19.25 x 3 inches which translates, roughly, to about 70 square inches of cooking space. It’s a relatively small cooking surface, to be sure, but it’ll still get the job done and you’ll be able to cook at least two cuts of meat on it. If you do want something bigger, check out the Hamilton Beach electric indoor searing grill or the Philips smokeless indoor grill.

Durability

You shouldn’t expect stainless steel construction from a grill this small. But it is made out of aluminum which is good enough for us. It should be able to hold up as long as you use it indoors as intended. One of the grill’s best features is that it weighs only three pounds, so it’s easy to take out and puck back into storage or to bring with you on a trip to the cottage. For comparison, the Zojirushi Indoor weighs seven pounds and is roughly the same size.

Ease of Use

Thanks to the control master heat knob the Prestor Grill couldn’t be easier to use. Plug it in, set the heat, and you’re good to go. The slide-out drip tray is easy to clean because, well, it slides out, and the nonstick surface is fully immersible and dishwasher safe. Just be sure you’ve removed the heat control before you place it in the dishwasher! Of course, you can always clean it by hand too.

Value

Customer reviews for the Presto Cool Touch Indoor Grill are good, scoring 4.5.5 stars on Amazon. And at only $35.00 it’s one of the more inexpensive grills we’ve seen. A perfect price for, say, a college student who needs something easy to cook meals on. The warranty is there, but it’s only for a one-year, and it’s limited. It’s not bad, but not particularly good either.

Presto 09020 Indoor Grill Wrap Up

The Presto Indoor Grill may not be the biggest or the most powerful, but it is definitely one of the most adjustable and easiest to clean. And if you do decide to take it with you either to a cottage or to another friend’s dorm room, it can easily fit in your backpack, or be carried, without slowing you down.
