Behold one of the best VR ready laptops: the MSI GT76 Titan DT. It puts that name to the test by wielding a power RTX 2080 Super, backed by 64GB of RAM and a 10th Gen Intel Core i9. With that kind of power, no VR game, let alone the latest and greatest titles, are outside your reach. Speaking of greatest, check out our top picks for the best gaming laptops.

Why We Like It – MSI GT76 Titan

Rocking an RTX 2080 Super, 64GB of RAM, and a 10th Gen Intel Core i9 CPU, the MSI GT76 Titan is definitely a titan among gaming laptops, having specs far above what’s necessary to run VR and more.

Pros
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super 8GB
  • 2TB of SSD storage
  • 64GB RAM
Cons
  • 60Hz refresh rate
  • Needs two power bricks

Power & Performance

So, what kind of performance can you expect? Ideally, you’d want to know what games you can run. Titles like Shadow of the Tomb Raider are child’s play to the MSI GT76 Titan. What about Cyberpunk 2077? Absolutely! In fact, you’re right in line to enjoy raytracing. That makes us wonder why MSI stopped at 60Hz then. Why not at least 120Hz? It’s still good, though an odd choice nonetheless.

Battery, Ports & Expandability

What’s powering all this? Why, two power bricks. Yes, you read that right: the MSI GT76 Titan needs two power bricks to run everything at full strength. And yet you still get just 6 hours of playtime. That’s average, at best, but certainly not bad. It’s also highly expandable, in addition to having Wi Fi, Type C, Thunderbolt 3, four USB 3.1 Gen 2, microSD reader, and HDMI.

Build Quality

If there’s anything MSI cut back on, it was build quality. Its chassis is largely plastic to reduce weight, otherwise it would feel like carrying a tank. However, the inside has nearly a dozen heatpipes, four fans, and a plethora of heat exhausts for better cooling., in addition to per key RGB. The Alienware M15 is several steps better in terms of build quality.

Value

MSI GT76 Titan gaming laptops aren’t perfect, but they sure are powerful. The design hasn’t been perfected yet, but picking one up means you’ll be future-proof. When a new VR title comes out in the next few years, you’ll have no worries about running it—especially with specs like these. If cuts need to be made, then we suggest dropping down to the powerful Alienware M17; the MSI Stealth GS65 is a bit expensive for its performance.

MSI GT76 Titan Wrap Up

The MSI GT76 Titan is a glimpse into the future at what gaming laptops can offer. MSI managed to cram a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super 8GB into this laptop, backed by 64GB of RAM and a desktop CPU. And with two 1TB SSDs, your games and OS benefit from faster loading.
