Dell G7 7588 Gaming Laptops offer a lot of things that gaming laptops don’t normally offer, such as a decent battery life and a 1TB hard drive. So if you’re looking for the best gaming laptop for Fortnite you’ll find a friend in the Dell G7. Be aware, though, that as far as gaming laptops are concerned, it is a bit heavy.

Why We Like It – Dell G7 7588

The Dell G7 7588 packs plenty of power under the hood. The Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB of RAM means the computer will only slow down if you’re playing at least five games at once. The GPU is also powerful enough to handle any game you throw at it provided you’re willing to accept a lesser, but consistent, frame rate.

Pros
  • Consistent Frame Rate Performance
  • Decent Battery Life
  • 1TB Hard Drive
Cons
  • On the Heavy Side
  • Dim Display

Power/Performance

The Dell G7 7588 sports a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card with a Max Q design, an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 GPU, and 16GB of RAM. An Intel Core i9 is hard to come by, but if you’d like a more powerful GPU, try the Acer Predator Triton 500 RTX 2060. Still, the Dell G7 can hold its own as a multitasker and can play games like Tomb Raider on high settings if you’re willing to make due with a 36FPS average.

Battery

The battery life on the Dell G7 clocks in at around five and a half hours. This surpasses the gaming laptop standard of about four hours by a good hour and a half. It’s not really a surprise though. Dell and Alienware gaming laptops, such as the Alienware New m15, are usually the best in show whenever it comes to battery performance in a gaming laptop.

Ports/Expandability

On the right are two USB 3.1 ports, a Thunderbolt 3 port, an HDMI 2.0, and a headset jack. On the left there’s an additional USB 3.1 port, an Ethernet port for those times you’re having problems with your Wi Fi,, a 2-in-1 card reader, a Noble lock slot, and the power jack. While not bursting with ports like the MSI GS65 Stealth Thin, there should still be more than enough for on-the-go gaming.

Build Quality

The G7 contains a pair of raised, black rubber feet and a rear vent that allows the hot air to escape easily which means the laptop gets less hot compared to other gaming laptops. But while 6.3 pounds isn’t heavy by any stretch, it is considered so by laptop gaming standards. However, the 1TB hard drive is a breath of fresh air in a world where 512GB seems to be the norm.

Value

Although gaming performance is in 1080P full HD, the display on the G7 is a little dim and thus makes for muted colors and only a 62 percent on the sRGB color gamut. For the price, though, the speakers are surprisingly powerful and easily fill a room with rich bass and surprisingly clear and vibrant mids and highs. The cerulean backlighting on the keyboard is a breath of fresh air. Though traditionalists may find it nuisance.

Dell G7 7588 Wrap Up

The Dell G7 7588 should get through all your gaming needs, and all your work needs, without much of an issue. Although the battery life may be sparse for work-related tasks, it should be more than enough for gaming-related endeavours. The dim display will have you squinting at times to see exactly what’s happening though. I suppose this was the trade-off for better battery life.
