New M15 Alienware Laptops offer that Alienware performance you know and love while still retaining that classic Alienware design. Not only is it one of the best gaming laptops for Fortnite, it’s a best gaming laptop for practically any video game you want to play. Just try and keep it away from your lap for the more intense ones.

Why We Like It – Alienware New M15

The Alienware New M15 offers classic Alienware performance in a sleek and slim design. The GPU can take whatever a video game can throw at it and the CPU and GPU can slice through anything you throw at it, like countless 1080P Youtube videos, with slowing down.

Pros
  • Excellent Gaming Performance
  • Great Port Availability
  • 144Hz Refresh Rate
Cons
  • Poor Battery Life
  • Bottoms Runs Hot

Power/Performance

Alienware New M15 Gaming Laptops contain an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Max Q GPU. The same GPU can be found in the M15 R3 too, and can allow high end gaming performance on games like Far Cry: New Dawn and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The CPU and GPU can blow past any obstacle in its way without slowdowns. Check out the Razer Blade 15 Base for a similarly powerful laptop or even the Dell G7 if you want an Intel Core i9 processor. For a powerful gaming experience, check out our Alienware M17 review for a laptop with 16GB DDR4 RAM, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 8GB, 1 TB SSD, and more.

Battery

Battery life on gaming laptops have a reputation for being bad. And the Alienware New M15 does little to remedy the situation. The laptop can reach three hours and 51 minutes of battery life which falls just short of the four hour average gaming laptops have. If you’re looking for something that can at least mee this benchmark, check out the MSI GS65 Stealth thin.

Ports/Expandability

The M15 will have you covered when it comes to ports. On the right are two USB 3.1 ports. The left has another USB 3.1 port, an Ethernet port, and a headset jack. The back holds a Thunderbolt 3 port, an HDMI 2.0, a mini DisplayPort and the power jack. Alienware’s Graphics Amplifier is here too if you want to give the laptop some more juice at some point. See the Acer Predator Triton 500 RTX 2060 for another example of a port-friendly laptop.

Build Quality

The New M15 is the lightest Alienware laptop on the market at five pounds, yet still retains that token Alienware strangeness. The keyboard, despite having fairly low, is still quite clicky which makes for a good typing experience. It’s also highly customizable thanks to the improved and more intuitive Alien Command Center. For a gaming laptop with dual fans with anti-dust technology and a red-backlit keyboard, open our ASUS FX504 review.

Value

The OLED screen is gorgeous, extremely vivid, and offers rich blacks and true contrasts. The 144Hz refresh rate guarantees uninterrupted gaming and Tobii Eye Tracking enables features to track head pose, presence, fine gaze, and eye position. You may want to keep it away from your lap if you’re having an intense gaming session though as the bottom tends to run hot.

Alienware New M15 Wrap Up

An Alienware M15 R2 review mentioning the laptops poor battery life has become a kind of cliche considering most gaming laptops have poor battery life. But it is a spec, and an important one, so it bears mentioning. But if you can get past it you’ll find a laptop that’s bursting at the seams with power and possibility.
