Performance
The best part about the Doxie Go SE—other than being a portable scanner—is its versatility. You can scan just about anything within its dimensional limits, and those said documents can be as thick as cardstock. This is perfect if you’re looking to scan a few photos, and with its 600 dpi, the color accuracy is going to be impeccable.
Unfortunately, the Doxie Go SE does not have a document feeder. However, it can scan documents relatively quickly, provided you stand there while the portable document scanner does its job. It scans pretty quickly, though, pumping out about 8 pages per minute. Not too shabby, but nearly half as much as the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i.”
Design
Physically speaking, the dimensions of the Doxie Go SE aren’t that far off from the Brother DS-620, with the Go SE coming in at 12.25 x 2.25 x 1.75 inches. The Brother DS-620 is .88 pounds while the Doxie Go SE comes in at 1.18 pounds. Not much of a difference considering both are highly portable thanks to their low weight and form factor, unlike the somewhat bulky Brother ADS-1250W.
The Doxie Go SE can be untethered from computers and power outlets, thanks to its 8GB SD card and rechargeable battery, which should last a good 400 scans at 300 dpi or 200 scans at 600 dpi. With the scans going straight to the SD card, this allows you to go paperless.
Value
Considering the Doxie Go SE’s form factor and quality, this is definitely a worthy purchase—especially for a scanner that can be used for personal use, or light work, without taking up too much of your desk space, or coming with a hefty price tag. And with its ability to be free of a power cable, thanks to a rechargeable battery, for a short while, it makes portability all the more easier and natural.

The Doxie Go SE has the makings of an excellent portable scanner. Its ability to chern out high quality scans at reasonable speeds is more than enough, but being incredibly portable because of its battery, and not needing a computer to work, there’s no reason not to have the Go SE on your desk at home.
