Performance

This Fujitsu scanner is all about efficiency and ease-of-use. It can scan documents at up to 60 pages per minute as well as 120 images per minute. The daily duty cycle of 4000 pages is also nothing to laugh at. This fi series printer also comes with two different scanning software to make life easy. Paperstream Capture brings an intuitive interface and allows users to create scan profiles. The PaperStream IP automatically optimizes scans and enhances image quality. Both these packages are user-friendly like the ScanSnap software on the Fujitsu S1300i

Design

The Fujitsu fi-7160 comes in an attractive black and grey package that has a sturdy feel to it. It can scan long documents of up to 18 feet using the Paperstream IP driver and can also scan cards up to 1.4mm thick. To stop jams, it has an ultrasonic sensor that will stop the scanner if a paper gets stuck. Despite the lack of wireless connectivity, it is still network compatible and can be used with Scanner Central admin software. It might be a bit big for people on the go, who could be better off with a Doxie Go SE.

Value

The fi-7160 is designed to handle high volumes of scanning. The high scanning speed combined with the large capacity document feeder ensures that you can leave it to run and do your other work. Paperstream IP makes sure that your documents are clear with no need to rescan. As long as the Fujitsu fi-7160 is used for high volume scanning, it represents great value. It might be too much for offices with smaller scanning requirements. They may be better served by a scanner like the Brother DS-620.

Fujitsu fi-7160 Wrap Up

When it comes to scanning lots of documents quickly and efficiently, there are few scanners in its class better than the fi-7160. Not only has it got a fast scanning speed, but it also has software that ensures that each image is clear and goes to the correct location. The software can take a long time to install on some computers, and the lack of wireless capability might be a deal-breaker for some. However, it’s still a reliable scanner that’s worth taking a look at.
