The Asus C202SA has a couple of things that set it back, such as a DDR3 RAM and only 32GB of storage. But if you’re looking for a good laptop for kids and the best laptop it doesn’t seem that bad. What’s a kid going to do with endless amounts of storage? And how many programs are they going to run simultaneously that a DDR3 RAM can’t handle? Want more laptop choices for kids?

Why We Like It – Asus Chromebook C202SA

The Asus Chromebook C202SA comes equipped with an Intel Celeron N3060 Dual Core processor so you can run your programs quickly and efficiently. It also comes with 4GB of RAM, so you can at least run a couple of programs at once, and an anti-glare screen if you find yourself always near a window.

Pros
  • Chrome OS
  • 10 Hours Battery Life
  • Extremely Durable
Cons
  • DDR3 RAM
  • Only 32GB of Storage

Power/Performance

The Asus Chromebook C202SA YS02 can easily perform tasks thanks to the installed Chrome OS running off an Intel Celeron N3060 CPU. It can handle Google Docs and other applications from the Google Play store. One glaring issue is that Asus’ laptop runs off of DDR3 RAM, the predecessor of the now standard DDR4. Paired with only 4GB of it, you may find yourself waiting a bit with more intensive programs. Should you need something with a bit more power, the Acer Spin 11 will do the trick. Battery

One of the best features of the Asus Chromebook C202SA is its battery. It offers a 10 hour long battery life. And Asus really means it when they say 10 hours. Even with running wi fi, video, and other programs, the C202SA easily lasts all day. The battery even rivals the Lenovo Flex 14 in terms of longevity.

Ports/Expandability

The port selection on the Asus Chromebook C202SA both helps and hinders the laptop. With a headphone jack, USB. and HDMI ports, this would be decent. But there is one flaw: with no SD card reader. Out of the box there is no way to expand the storage of the Asus Chromebook C202SA. This means customers will be stuck with only 32GB of storage. Build Quality

Rugged and durable, the Asus Chromebook C202SA is meant to take a beating. Featuring a touch screen and a spill resistant keyboard, Asus’ Chromebook was built for the accident prone in mind. The laptop even comes with an anti glare screen so you won’t have to keep repositioning the laptop, or yourself, if you’re getting a glare from outside.

Value

The biggest thing to consider before buying the Asus Chromebook C202SA is that there is no solution to expand the memory unless you buy a SD card reader and plug into one of the USB ports. There are some who would prefer not to carry around dongles, especially for an all day laptop such as the C202SA. For those people the Apple Macbook Air has much more memory, as well as a built-in SD card reader.

Asus Chromebook C202SA Wrap Up

Extremely durable, the Asus Chromebook C202SA will be safe in the hands of children who will more than likely drop it. And with 10 hours of battery life it’ll last the entire school day and beyond. Far enough for them to be able to finish their homework before the battery fully drains.
