If you’re looking for a good laptop for kids and the best laptop, review Acer Spin 11 laptops. It has everything you could want to get your kid started down a computer journey, and is an excellent tool for completing schoolwork. Just make sure you always have a charger ready because the battery does tend to drain rather quickly.

Why We Like It – Acer Spin 11

The Acer Spin 11 sports an Intel Celeron N3350 processor for quick and efficient app running and two USB-C ports. It’s rare to see even one USB-C port on a chromebook, let alone two, so this is a very welcome addition. Should you need all-day battery life the Spin 11 has you covered so long as you’re running basic, and not intensive, programs.

Pros
  • Chrome OS
  • Supports Wacom EMR Pen
  • Very Durable
Cons
  • Battery Drains Quickly
  • Dim Display

Power/Performance

The Acer Spin 11 runs off an Intel Celeron N3350 but is still able to work well under pressure. The Spin 11 is more than able to multitask between several work related programs, such as the Office suite of programs. Using the Chrome OS, this laptop is able to download and run several Android apps from Google play.

Battery

The Acer Spin 11 contains only average battery life. While Acer claims that the Spin 11 has a ten hour battery life, running any sort of program causes the battery to drain rather quickly. This does hurt the portability of the Spin 11 as you’ll have to carry your charger with you. If you’re in the market for a laptop with a longer lasting battery, the Lenovo Flex 14 can last the whole day.

Ports/Expandability

The Acer Spin 11 has a surprisingly robust port selection which rivals even the Apple Macbook Air. Coming equipped with two USB C ports, a USB, and a speaker system, the Acer Spin 11 is ready for any situation. It’s surprising to see a chromebook sport USB type C ports, but this one even supports a Wacom EMR pen which just adds to the versatility the Spin 11 has to offer.

Build Quality

With a screen made from gorilla glass, the Acer Spin 11 is as tough as they get and is able to withstand a decent amount of damage and continue to function. Accompanying the durability is the ease of use. With a comfortable keyboard you will be more than happy to use the Spin 11 throughout the day. The only aspect that marrs the Spin 11 is it’s display. Having an IPS display should be a good thing. However, its dimness ruins the whole experience. The Lenovo Chromebook C330 offers a much brighter screen, as do the Asus Flip and models of the Samsung Chromebook.

Value

For around $350 you’re definitely getting your money’s worth when it comes to value. For an all day laptop, you won’t find much better than the Spin 11. Just make sure you’re taking into account the fast-draining battery before you purchase. Still, tablet mode allows you to use the touch screen whenever needed which is perfect for kids who need their first computer to learn!

Acer Spin 11 Wrap Up

A very durable laptop, the Acer Spin 11 should be safe in the hands of a child who will most likely drop it a few times. It has a Chrome operating system so they can download their favorite apps from the Google Play store, and the Wacom EMR pen supports the more artistically-inclined child.
