If you’re looking for a good laptop for kids and the best laptop to get them started on the eventual path of them having to use computers, the Lenovo Chromebook C330 is an excellent choice. The Chrome OS means they can download their favorite apps from Google Play, and the fantastic keyboard and touchscreen mean they’ll have no problems operating the laptop.

Why We Like It – Lenovo Chromebook C330

The Lenovo Chromebook C330 has no business being as efficient as it is given its low price point. The processor is powerful enough for a working person to multitask effectively, the battery is more than enough to get you through the day, and the keyboard and touchscreen are a joy to work with.

Pros
  • Chrome OS
  • Great Port Selection
  • Fantastic Touchscreen and Keyboard
Cons
  • Only 64GB of Storage
  • Flimsy-Feeling Plastic Body and Chassis

Power/Performance

The C330 convertible laptop comes with a Mediatek MT8173C processor in order to keep costs low. It’s a multicore processor that does a fine job with basic multitasking. With the inclusion of Chrome OS you also have access to the Google Play store. But with only 64GB of EMMC storage you’ll want to carry a hard drive or USB. You can also check out the Acer Spin 11 for greater storage capacity.

Battery

One of the highlights of the Lenovo Chromebook C330 is the long battery life. Lenovo claims the battery to last up to ten hours, and this claim holds true. Focusing on light browsing and productivity rather than battery intensive activities like gaming, the components included in the C330 help make the battery long-lasting, and rivaling even the Lenovo Flex 14.

Ports/Expandability

Another surprise of the Lenovo Chromebook C330 is the diverse port selection. You get type C USB support, normal USB, an SD card slot, and an HDMI. The fact that there is a USB C port and HDMI support is alarming, but welcome, especially given the price point. And with the included tablet mode, there is a great amount of versatility with the C330.

Build Quality

The build quality emphasizes both the best and worst aspects of the Lenovo Chromebook C330. On the plus side, the keyboard and screen are phenomenal. An IPS touch screen really brings out the best from this laptop, and the keyboard is a joy to use. On the negative, the blizzard white chassis feels too flimsy. The casing is plastic and feels as if it will shatter in one drop. Should you want something more durable, the Apple Macbook Air has much better build quality.

Value

The value of the Lenovo Chromebook C330 varies depending on who you ask. For the more accident prone, they may want to search for something more durable. However, if you feel like you can handle it, the Lenovo Chromebook C330 is a trustworthy companion. And if you’re looking for something inexpensive that still has most of the features of a higher-end laptop, the C330 should have you covered too.

Lenovo Chromebook C330 Wrap Up

Considering all the positive features the C330 has for such a low price there were bound to be some cuts somewhere. The body itself feels cheap, and the low amount of storage is irksome if you want to get some serious work done. Still, with the money you’re saving you should be able to get an external hard drive, even a small one, for added capacity.
