Performance (Display/Resolution/Refresh)
The X900F series Sony TV has a 4K UHD LED screen (if you want to upgrade from an LED TV check out the new Sony A8H OLED!). It’s not the best display around, but it still pretty much outperforms any basic LCD TVs. Thanks to X-Motion Clarity, it has a refresh rate of 120hz, which actively works to reduce motion blur. X-Tended Dynamic Range PRO offers up to six times the contrast of a standard LED TV, and with a variety of picture settings and picture mode options, this TV can accurately reproduce most things that you throw at it.
Sound
The stock speakers of this TV provide a decent sound quality from the back of the TV. Sony didn’t put a whole lot of effort into these, but they will work in a pinch. Still, you will most likely want to upgrade to a soundbar, and this TV’s fully prepared for that, with one optical audio output and a 3.5mm headphone jack. If you prefer a Bluetooth speaker, the Sony TV has you covered as well, so you should have no trouble hooking this TV up to your favorite set of speakers.

Smart Features
It’s not an extravagant TV, but it still has enough smart features for most users from its Android OS (if you want to try a webOS TV, check out the LG CX OLED instead). This TV has apps built-in for common streaming services such as Prime Video or Netflix, but since it can connect to Google Play Store, you have an essentially unlimited amount of streaming options. The XBR65X900F has Google Assistant built into the device, but it can also work with Amazon Alexa as well (for a built-in Alexa experience, try the Samsung 8 Series TV).
Ports & Expandability
The make-or-break point in every TV review is the inputs: how many does it have? Are there only two HDMI ports? One? Fortunately, this Sony doesn’t disappoint, offering 4 HDMI ports, two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, a composite port, an optical port, and a headphone jack. With all of these connection options, it’s not a question of “will it connect?” it’s a question of “where shall I put it?”. Like most modern TVs, this model comes with a stand but it can also be mounted on a wall if that fits better in your setup.
Value
Costing $899.99, this TV isn’t cheap, but it definitely won’t break the bank either. It has free scheduled delivery, but if you want to return it you’re going to end up paying extra. Sony provides a one-year warranty on this TV, and if you want more security there is a product protection plan available for an additional $80.99. Scoring 4.6 out of 5-stars based on 1,401 Amazon reviews, we think it’s safe to say that this TV is worth the money.
Sony XBR65X900F Wrap Up
The Sony XBR65X900F may be an older model, but that doesn’t mean you should overlook it! This TV still has a lot to offer, from its 4K 65″ display to its Android operating system, which still offers the widest range of applications on the market. It would have been nice if Amazon Alexa had been built-in rather than just compatible, but considering the age and price of this TV, we still think it’s a good purchase despite this minor shortcoming.
