Just because a laptop doesn’t have high-end specs doesn’t mean you should immediately count it out of the running. This HP Pavilion 15.6 Laptop Review shows that when it comes to productivity, the HP Pavilion 15.6 Laptop is a workhorse ready for a full day of work, proven by being among several in our category for best laptops. Featuring a great cost to power ratio, an easy-to-use keyboard, and a bright display, the Pavilion 15.6 more than earns a spot in our lists for Best Laptop for Seniors, even with issues regarding storage and the power of the laptop. This may not be a top-rated laptop, but it works perfectly.

Why We Like It – HP Pavilion 15.6 Laptop

Simple and concise, the HP Pavilion 15.6 Laptop carries the essentials to get the job done. With the Intel Core i5 equipped, the Pavilion 15.6 will get any task done.

Pros
  • Balances price to hardware power perfectly
  • Features a well rounded keyboard
  • Display is surprisingly bright
Cons
  • Low storage out of the box
  • Will do the basics, not much else.

Power/Performance

As far as power goes, the HP Pavilion 15.6 Laptop is perfect for typing and other productive assignments like the best business laptops, but not much else. For HP Pavilion gaming, the integrated graphics card won’t be enough to run most modern games, especially not compared to dedicated graphics such as the Nvidia GeForce GTX series. While the idea of a HP Pavilion gaming laptop is far fetched, the battery life is nothing to sneer at. However, if you’re looking for something more comparable to gaming laptops, the Acer Aspire E 15 has some more horsepower in the GPU department.

Battery

Being able to stand side by side with Toshiba Tecra A50-E in terms of battery life is no easy feat, since it’s one of the laptops with best battery life on its side. However, the HP Pavilion 15.6 Laptop does so with ease. This is in part due to part selection done by HP, managing to balance both power and performance, all while packing it in an affordable package. Certain parts, such as the Intel Core i7, were replaced with the less powerful Core i5 in an attempt to preserve battery life. Because of this, the HP Pavilion can last all day for work.

Ports/Expandability

The HP Pavilion 15.6 Laptop comes equipped with two USB ports, one HDMI port, Ethernet port, and a headphone jack. A simple port selection for a simple laptop. One will find the basic port selection having everything they need, all except for the ones who need every port known to man for their work. In that case, the Apple Macbook Pro 13 has a much more diverse port selection that should be more suitable.

Build Quality

For $300 the HP Pavilion 15.6 Laptop offers a surprising quality when it comes to the durability of the chassis. Made of a strong plastic, buyers won’t have to worry about light damage. The keyboard is comfortable to use, long lasting and durable. Check out the HP Pavilion Touchscreen Laptop review for a laptop with a magnificent quality build.

Value

One thing to note with the HP Pavilion 15.6 Laptop is that outside of work related activities, the Pavilion 15.6 can’t do much else. For those who are looking for an all in one laptop, this might not be the best choice for you. However if you’re on the search for a laptop that you solely use for productivity, HP’s laptop is your best bet. You may want to take a look at the HP Pavilion 17 review for an affordable laptop.

HP Pavilion 15.6 Laptop Wrap Up

The best at what it does, the HP Pavilion 15.6 Laptop offers a work experience that is hard to replicate. Featuring an easy to use keyboard, a well lit screen, and a good balance of price, power and performance, the HP Pavilion 15.6 Laptop is ready to tackle on a hard day’s work, even with issues regarding storage and versatility.
