The printer uses dye (black cartridge) and pigment (color cartridge) inks. On plain paper, the black ink cartridges produced sharp texts, but with a little splotching. On high-quality inkjet paper, results were book worthy. Printing graphics and photos on select Canon photo paper, like the Photo Paper Plus Glossy II, was equally high-quality and alluring.
