Speed

The Brother Printer Driver claims a print speed of 12 black ink pages per minute (ppm) and 10ppm color pages. It’s 1ppm under the Canon Pixma, 2ppm above the Brother MFC-J775DW, and about 1ppm above and below other printers in its class making for a very tight grouping. However, printing snapshots on photo paper yielded the best results among the lot making it the best photo printer and one of the best printer for cardstock. If speed is truly what you need though, check out the Epson Expression Photo HD XP-15000.

Print Quality

The Brother MFC-J895DW Wireless Color Inkjet Printer prints terrific texts on plain paper with both large and small text sizes being readable and visible. Business graphics, such as powerpoints and excel charts, look just as good. Note that you aren’t going to get a high yield of output though because this printer is more about print quality in an office instead of a lot of pages in a home office or personal desk setting so mass handouts will take some time. For that, check out the Silhouette Crafting Printer.

Efficiency

There’s an old saying that inkjet makers make profit more on selling ink cartridges and ink toner than the actual printer. The Brother MFC-J895DW One Printer, and most other inkjet printers like the HP OfficeJet 3830, is one of these printers. Running costs can go up to six cents per monochrome page and 16.5 cents for color pages. This is where INKvestement models come in which can cut running costs down to one cent per monochrome page and six cents per color page if you sign-up.

Advanced Features

The support for third-party mobile device printing solutions is vast and includes Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Mopria, and Brother iPrint Scan. In terms of utility bundles, Brother offers the ControlCenter4 which is fantastic for managing and defining your scan jobs and Nuance PaperPort 14 with OCR which is a popular program for archiving and subsequently finding important files.

Value

The printer connects to your wi-fi or uses wi fi direct if the network goes down. There’s also a USB port as well should your wireless network completely fail you. The paper tray is fairly standard and can hold 100 pages of regular paper or 20 sheets of premium photo paper. The ADF is impressive, though, being able to hold a maximum of 20 sheets.

Brother MFC-J895DW Wrap Up

While not the fastest printer in the world, the Brother MFC-J895DW still shines as an excellent budget printer capable of printing photos just as well as other high-end printers. Brother also offers an incredible amount of third-party support while also maintaining a vast amount of utilities that let you control your scanning and manage your documents. These are features you just don’t tend to see among printers of this class.
