Shopping around for the best monitor for Mac Mini or one of the best computer monitors? Well, the Asus Designo MC27UC may be worth looking into, especially if you’re not too shy about spending a few extra dollars for a good quality product. Retailing at just shy of $530, the Asus Designo MC27UC is a stellar display unit that you can own, and with an award winning frameless design, it’ll look every bit as flawless as the Apple Mac Mini unit does. Sit tight and get to the end of this review to find out if this display unit is the one for you.

Why We Like It – ASUS Designo MX27UC

The Asus Designo MX27UC display is a sleek, well designed monitor that may be slightly more expensive than other variants of the same size, but with safety features such as a blue light filter and the promise of a 4K resolution, we think it is well worth the extra expense.

Pros
  • USB Type C port & Cable
  • 4K Stunning Resolution Display
  • Features Adaptive Sync Technology
Cons
  • Low response time & refresh rate

Performance

Like the Asus MZ27AQ Designo, the Asus Designer MX27UC has a relatively small screen size of about 27 inches, but it features a stunning 4K UHD resolution, giving it the ability to present pictures and videos in much clearer detail compared to the Samsung 32 inch Curved Monitor Costco, which has a WQHD resolution display. The Asus IPS monitor has an impressive contrast ratio of 100,000,000:1, and this makes sure that the unit delivers deep blacks and bright whites that enhance the overall viewing experience.

Viewing Angle

Because of its frameless design, viewing angles on the Asus LED display are quite satisfactory, so you shouldn’t have a big problem viewing content on it from the side. The display unit actually has a 178-degree wide viewing angle, and this is also exactly what you’ll get with the Asus TUF VG27AQ.

Durability

Available in either Icicle gold or black, the Asus Designo MX27UC is of very sound build quality, and also modern design. It’s sundial inspired base holds it up at a slight angle, and its bezel is only 0.1 cm thick along both the top & the sides. The monitor is backed by a 3 year warranty on the casing, a 3 year warranty on the panel, and comes with an optional 1 year warranty on its parts and accessories.

Ports/Expandability

The ports on the back of the MX27UC allow for a wide range of connections, making it suitable for you to connect many different types of external devices. Bundled together in one section, you’ll find a HDMI 2.0 port, a DisplayPort 1.2, and a DisplayPort over USB C for 4K video and data transmission over a single cable. There are also a couple of USB 3.1 ports for your USB Sticks, and an Audio Input for use with audio input devices.

Value

Aside from featuring Adaptive Sync technology, the Asus Designo is also an eye care monitor, and what this simply means is that it’s got a couple of features that make it safe for your eyes. These features include is it’s flicker free technology which minimizes eye fatigue, and it’s Blue light filter which filters against harmful blue light that emanates from the display. Please note that these are protective features that you won’t find on the Dell Ultrasharp U2415.

ASUS Designo MX27UC Wrap Up

One of the understated highlights of the Asus MX27UC is its USB Type C port as well as the Type C cable that it comes with. This connection makes it so easy to connect tablets, smartphones and even other laptops to the display, and view your content in stunning 4K fashion. If you’re looking for seamless connectivity between the display and your devices, then this is the monitor for you.
