With nearly 80% of the SDR color gamut, the Dell Ultrasharp U2415 does a decent job for color accuracy—a staple the best monitor for Mac Mini should have. But if you want to sit back and enjoy a few movies, the wide viewing angle is a necessary feature the best monitor for watching movies definitely needs. Speaking of features, check out our list of the best computer monitors with all their amazing features.

Why We Like It – Dell Ultrasharp U2415

Featuring a wide 178-degree viewing angle, the Dell Ultrasharp U2415 easily adjusts when you’re feeling lazy and want to lean to one side. At the same time it opens the opportunity for multi-display setups.

Pros
  • IPS panel; wide viewing experience
  • Can daisy chain multiple monitors
  • Full-range adjustments w/ built-in cable management
Cons
  • USB ports are inconveniently placed
  • Average contrast ratio

Performance

While the ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD has 10% better sRGB color coverage than the Dell Ultrasharp U2415, it still covers nearly 77% of the spectrum. Where it suffers is its average 1000:1 contrast ratio. It’s inferior to the 5000:1 contrast ratio Samsung 32 Inch Curved Monitor Costcos have. On the bright side, 1080p looks really good on a screen size of 24-inches, a sweet spot for FHD.

Viewing Angle

Viewing angles are amazing though. You have 178-degrees to work with, which is fantastic for daisy chaining monitors. And since the bezels are very thin (just 6.9mm), your experience is hardly interrupted. What’s especially nice is full-range adjustment: tilt, pivot, swivel, and height.

Durability

Despite the coloring on the stand, it’s entirely made of hard plastic as is the shell around the IPS display. It isn’t so cut and dry though; it has cable management that we dig near the bottom of the stand, a small hole for threading cables. And if you’re feeling adventurous, it supports VESA mounting.

Ports & Expandability

Screen performance isn’t the Dell U2415’s greatest strength, but rather its ability to create a large, multi-screen workstation. This is because it’s sporting two HDMI mini DisplayPort, and two DisplayPorts. You can also attach five USB devices to the monitor, thanks to five separate USB 3.0 ports, but unfortunately they’re poorly placed behind and under the monitor. When daisy-chaining, power consumption is kept to a minimum, thanks to Dell’s enhanced power management.

Value

On its own, the Dell Ultrasharp U2415 isn’t special. It isn’t geared right for gaming, nor is it quite the right choice for color accurate activities. But daisy chain but daisy-chain a few monitors and it’ll be your best friend for spreadsheets, crunching numbers, and occasionally kicking back to enjoy some cinema. If you do want to game, then you’re better off dumping some extra cash into the Asus TUF VG27AQ.

Dell Ultrasharp U2415 Wrap Up

When you get right down to it, the Dell Ultrasharp U2415 isn’t far off from your run-of-the-mill monitor. It’s average in some areas, but excels in others depending on your needs. For example, its number of video ports make it perfect for multitasking. And since it has a wide, 178-degree viewing angle, you can safely lean in your chair comfortably without loss of detail.
