Our #6 choice for best 120hz gaming monitor, the Dell Alienware 1900R, is perfect for any game, no matter the type. IPS panel and G Sync technology come together for a high-speed display with a 4ms response time, a 100hz native response rate (120hz overclocked), and multiple game modes on one display. Why We Like It – Alienware 1900R

The Alienware 1900R is a dedicated gaming monitor with a 34.1” screen display, 4 x USB ports, and Nvidia G Sync Technology offering excellent performance with multiple game modes.

Pros
  • Has G Sync Technology
  • 34.1” Curved Gaming Monitor Screen
  • Swivel/Hingle Combo Design For Maximum Adjustability
Cons
  • Contrast Ratio Could Be Better

Performance

Although it’s not new (Alienware released this model in October of 2017), the Alienware AW3418DW is still a solid product offering great performance. It has a native refresh rate of 100hz which can run up to 120hz when overclocked (if you need a monitor with a higher refresh rate, check out the Asus ROG PG279Q), G Sync technology to prevent distortions or tearing, and a low response rate of 4ms. If that response rate isn’t fast enough for you, check out the Alienware AW3420DW, which has a faster response rate at 2ms!

Viewing Angle

The 1900Rl has a wide 178°/178° viewing angle on its curved 34.1″ display. It uses an IPS panel to achieve this, offering a color gamut of sRGB99%. The display is 1.77 times more detailed than the standard full HD display, thanks to the resolution of 3440 X 1440 on this WQHD monitor. With a brightness level of 300 candelas per square meter, you will be able to see your games easily in any room (bright or dark), although if the brightness is too high for your taste you can always turn it down.

Speaking of display customization, should the settings on this monitor not fit your style, then maybe you’d like the options you’ll find in our AOC E2251FWU 22-inch widescreen USB LED monitor review.

Durability

This monitor is built well, fully cased in metal as opposed to cheap plastic, weighing in at 26.14 lbs. The stand is also made of metal and has two 16″ legs, so the monitor won’t be able to tip over without a fight. However, the connection from the stand to the monitor is made of plastic, and some users have reported it breaking. This will not be covered by the warranty, so make sure your stand is properly supporting the monitor before letting it stand alone.

Ports & Expandability

There is a decent selection of ports on this monitor. It has one HDMI port, one Displayport, four USB ports, and two 3.5mm audio outputs (one with variable volume for headphones, and one with fixed output ideal for speaker setups). Two of the USB ports and one 3.5mm port are located on the bottom of the monitor. The remainder of the ports are located on the lower back towards the bottom of the monitor. While there isn’t a 3.5mm input for microphones, this monitor still has enough ports to easily integrate it into your gaming setup.

Value

There are cheaper gaming monitors available, but for the price, we think this one is worth it. Originally retailing at close to $1,500, the 1900R now only costs $822.25 (although it is important to note that this is a “Used: Very Good” monitor, not a brand new one). Despite not being brand new, the majority of customers seem to love it, awarding the 1900R with 4.5 out of 5-stars based on 865 Amazon ratings. Sadly, there are no warranties or protection plans offered for this device.

If a manufacturer won’t provide a warranty, extended warranties can be purchased for any device, including this one or any of the leading 38-inch monitors you may be looking at including in your setup.

Alienware 1900R Wrap Up

The Dell Alienware 1900R is a high-quality 34.1″ gaming monitor offered at a fair price (if you want a larger screen, consider the Asus ROG Strix XG438Q). Although there are no brand-new monitors available, the device still maintains a good track record and offers excellent performance perfect for all types of gamers.
