The Alienware aw2518hf rightfully earned its place among the Best 240hz Gaming Monitor due to its great performance with the latest video games. This monitor will provide a super fast response time with an even better refresh rate than most of the competitors. Aside from performance, it will look great on any desk because of its futuristic aesthetic. Speaking of performance, check out our review of some of the best computer monitors.

Why We Like It – Alienware AW2518HF

The Alienware AW2518HF is a solid monitor to purchase for your work or play station because aside from the new technology that lets you enjoy games with smooth frame rates, it looks like the monitor from the future with LED lights in the back of the screen that can be customized to your preference.

Pros
  • The futuristic design will look fantastic on your desk
  • Faster refresh rate than competitors, capping at 240hz
Cons

Performance

The 25” inch Alienware monitor caps at a 240hz refresh rate, which is great for moving past frame rates smoothly and producing no lags. It includes technology from Nvidia, the AMD freesync, which will get rid of any screen tears during the game. It includes its own stand, which you can adjust to best fit your needs. If you want to look at other brands, another monitor you may want to tune into is the BenQ Zowie XL2740.

Viewing angle

This Alienware monitor has a max Full HD resolution of (1920×1080). It uses an LCD type of screen which is known for being reliable, but not providing the best viewing angles. The horizontal viewing angle is 160 degrees while the vertical angle caps at 170 degrees. If you would like to see a monitor with a similar resolution, you may want to tune in to the Acer XF250Q 240hz.

Durability

As with most high-performance devices, they will last as long as you keep them away from physical abuse and things of that nature. The warranty will most likely cover any internal conflicts, but it would be best to ask for a protection plan from your retailer to extend the life of your monitor.

Ports/expandability

The Alienware model has 5 USB ports, which is plenty more than other competitors. There is an upstream USB in the rear part of the monitor, and there are 4 downstream ports, 2 in the rear section, and 2 more in the bottom. There is also an HDMI port and a DisplayPort. There is an on-screen display for this monitor where you can adjust settings as well.

Value

While this monitor may be a significant investment, you can rest assured that you are purchasing a device with a faster refresh rate than most of the other monitors out there rolling with a max of 144hz or even 70hz. This may give you a competitive edge, especially when paired to the AMD freesync technology it only enhances the smoothness during gameplay. Aside from performance, you can expect the visual aesthetic of this monitor to light up your room literally thanks to the LED design in the back which you can stylize as your own. If you are not sold at this point, it may be time to look at something else like the Asus XG248Q.

Alienware AW2518HF Wrap Up

The Alienware AW2518HF takes your gaming experience to the next level by letting you experience all the latest games with no lags, smooth graphics, and fast response times. The plethora of USB and HDMI ports will come in handy by letting you connect multiple devices at once, all while everyone else enjoys the LED light show in the back of the monitor.
