Power/Heating

Similar to the Magma grill, the Napoleon Lex can get extremely hot, which is nice for a natural gas grill. It has six burners capable of reaching 12,000 BTUs for a total of 74,000 BTUs. The only other unit that can beat this would be the Napoleon Burners Prestige PRO 665 Natural Gas Grill, this unit’s cousin. The preheat time on the Napoleon Lex is also very low, coming in at only 7-10 minutes.

Size/Versatility

Unlike the Northfire Inferno grill, the Napoleon Lex has an impressively large amount of grilling space, measuring in at 805 square inches. This should be more than enough grilling space for six to eight steaks for you and your family. The Lex is a natural gas unit only, though, so you’ll need to check out the Weber Spirit II for a propane gas option. But another plus for the Lex, all burners are infrared, including the side burners.

Durability

The Napoleon Lex comes with heavy-duty stainless steel construction to help it survive the elements. Sure, stainless steel is a pain to clean, but at least you know your grill will be able to survive inclement weather without harm. It’s a heavy grill, though, at 178 pounds, and only comes with two casters so it’s hard to move around if you ever find the need to. You can try the Weber Genesis 310 for something just a little bit lighter.

Ease of Use

The briquettes, like the grill’s body, are constructed from stainless steel. Specifically, porcelain-enameled cast-iron stainless steel. The porcelain-enameling makes the grill very easy to clean and helps to retain heat for even cooking and better-tasting food. It also comes with Napoleon’s Jet Fire Ignition System for fast and easy lighting every time.

Value

Gas Grill reviews of Napoleon Lex on Amazon are good, if just a little scarce. Based on 49 reviews, it scores 4.5/5 stars. The grill also comes with six tool hooks so you have a place to put them when grilling, and the base of the grill has two doors for extra storage. Considering you won’t be occupying this space with a propane gas tank you should have more than enough room to store everything.

Napoleon Lex 485 Wrap Up

The Napoleon Lex is a large grill and not easily movable grill, but then again the people at Napoleon didn’t design it with that in mind. It stays where it is and sears up a lot of juicy-tasting meat and fish quickly for your family and friends. Is there much more you can ask for in a grill of this size?
